The play is based from the Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which creatively re-imagines L. Frank Baum’s original characters in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Wicked revolves around the unlikely friendship between sorcery students Glinda and Elphaba. As they embark on their adventures, the two fulfill their destinies as the blonde-haired Glinda the Good and the green-skinned Wicked Witch of the West.

This year’s Wicked features music and lyrics by multi Grammy and Academy Award-winning Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Disney’s Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento. Winnie Holzman adapted the novel for the stage, while two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello helms the production.

Wicked begins February 2 at The Theatre at Solaire and runs Tuesday to Friday at 8:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The by-invitation gala evening happens on February 8 at 7:30 pm.

This play is produced worldwide by Marc Platt, Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone; with Michael McCabe standing as executive producer. The Manila engagement is presented by Globe LIVE, Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and Concertus Manila.
