Following in the footsteps of big brother Xiaomi, OPPO also wants to take the world by storm. The global electronics and technology service provider from China was introduced to the Philippine market several months ago. Now, OPPO ups the ante by launching two flagship phones right at our doorstep – the N3 and the R5.

The N3 is the world’s first smartphone to feature an automated swivel camera. OPPO’s N series has been known for its rotating camera. The N3 augments this innovative feature through automation. The camera has the ability to rotate 206 degrees and is capable of taking pictures using its free-stop and multi-angle shooting features. It can be controlled by O-Click, gestures, and touch access.

Additionally, it can take panoramic shots of impressive, wide-angle shots with a simple click activating the automatic rotation to capture clear, stable images – in both landscape and portrait orientation. The camera is 16 megapixels strong, perfect for high qualities and high resolutions, but can take 64MP quality images.

Furthermore, the camera showcases OPPO’s unique target-tracking focus shift function, which means that all users need to do is to identify the target in focus and the camera will constantly modify its angle to follow the moving target, helping users create clear, pristine photos and videos.

The phone has a hollow underside design that houses the OPPO’s skyline notification light, which emits a glow seen from all angles whenever there is a notification. The hollow underside also protects the phone if it is dropped. The hollow space distributes the impact to eliminate any deforming damage.

The OPPO N3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone includes OPPO’s VOOC mini rapid charging system that will have the phone ready whenever users are. A 30-minute charge will provide 75% battery, and a five-minute charge allows for a two-hour call. This time the VOOC mini is smaller and easier to carry.

Meanwhile, the R5 is being boasted as the world’s thinnest full high-definition phone, coming in at just 4.85mm thick with a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen. The revolutionary phone is also a member of the oncoming slew of octa-core phones, armed with the Qualcomm MSM8939.

The phone uses phase-change materials and heat dissipation technology called Cool Element, which keeps it at a constant cool temperature whilst maintaining and protecting the superior functionality of its octa-core CPU, to prolong its life.

The phone’s camera uses the latest PI 2.0 Plus Flash Shot technology, which gives it a maximum focus time of 0.18 seconds and delivers 50MP high-definition picture quality.

Designed with a micro-arc frame, it is designed to fit your hand like a glove. Like the N3, the R5 comes with OPPO’s VOOC charging system.

Both devices will be available in the Philippine market starting early next year. The OPPO N3 is estimated to be around US$649 (PHP29,000), while the OPPO R5 is around US$499 (PHP22,000).
