Take a look at Nokia’s comeback Android smartphone

Nokia is back but it won’t be coming to all markets. At the moment, HMD Global, the company who has the rights to use the Nokia brand for mobile phones, will be launching it in what’s considered the biggest smartphone market in the world: China.

The Nokia 6 will be sold exclusively on Chinese e-commerce portal JD.com for 1,699 yuan (around P12,000). This mid-range smartphone comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, Android 7.0 Nougat, 4GB of RAM, 3,000mAh battery, and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD).

Like a lot of the current crop of smartphones, the Nokia 6 has a fingerprint scanner embedded into the physical home button on the front. It also has a 16-megapixel rear shooter with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, 1μm sensor and dual-tone flash, as well as an 8-megapixel front camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens, 1.12μm sensor, and an f/2.0 aperture.

Some other notable specs include dual stereo speakers with dual smart amplifiers and Dolby Atmos sound technology. It’ll be a dual SIM device and have support for 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, USB OTG, and GPS. Yes, there is still a 3.5mm audio jack here, too.

This Nokia-branded device was expected to launch at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February. However, it looks like HMD Global didn’t want to wait any further. What do you think? If this phone makes its way out of China will you want one?
