Lenovo Unveils World’s First 5G PC

Lenovo gave PC fans a first-hand look at their newest 5G PC, Project Limitless, at Computex 2019. In collaboration with Qualcomm, Project Limitless is equipped with a Snapdragon 55 5G modem, allowing it to have 5G connectivity.

In smartphones, the transition from 4G to 5G is slowly creeping in, and likewise, Lenovo sees huge growth potential in pioneering the 5G PC market. By enabling smarter, modern computing through the promise of faster, always-connected PCs, Lenovo hopes to bring more immersive connectivity and sharing to its users.

“At Lenovo, we don’t innovate for the sake of technology alone. Everything we do is about improving people’s experience,” says Johnson Jia, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Business of Intelligent Devices Group, Lenovo. “With real 5G in a PC, it’s all about satisfying users’ need for speed: faster file transfers and streaming in 4K, 8K and even AR/VR; faster and higher quality video chats on-the-go; even faster screen refreshes for mobile gaming. When we say limitless connectivity, we mean it – 5G PC users the world-over will save time, stay productive, or get online entertainment from nearly anywhere, at any time.”

Powered by the Qualcomm’s most extreme Snapdragon ever—the Snapdragon 8cx—Project Limitless can meet the needs of highly mobile users and digital natives who spend most of their time online and would appreciate the versatility of a PC with smartphone capabilities. It will be available in the market early next year.
