After the recent unveiling of Team Liyab, its official professional esports team in partnership with Mineski, Globe Telecom sought to bring a world-class esports experience closer to local communities of gamers with the launch of its first Esports Center (ESC) at PlayNation in UP Town Center, Quezon City.
The ESC is the first of its kind in the country, featuring three sections: The Studio, for recording and live-streaming matches; the PC Arena, for playing online multiplayer games such as Dota, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, League of Legends, among others; and The Mobile Arena, complete with charging ports for those who prefer mobile gaming. They also have PlayStation consoles where users can play the ever-popular Tekken and other games.
Globe SVP and Head for Content Business Group Nikko Acosta said that one of the goals of Globe Games and Esports is to strengthen the grassroots level of esports in the country in cooperation with various fan communities.
From March 9-24, The Esports Center will be open to the public and there will also be special activities held including mini-tournaments, gameplay, fan meet-ups, and meet & greets with Team Liyab.
