In a recent event in China, Samsung announced the Galaxy A8s, the brand’s first phone without a headphone jack, and the first phone in the world to have a hole in its screen (wherein its front camera is nestled) to make way for its Infinity-O display.
With no headphone jack, the only options left for its would-be users are Bluetooth/USB-C pairing or a USB-C through the 3.5mm adapter.
And to achieve its Infinity-O display, the new Galaxy A8s employs a notch- less design, situating its 24-megapixel front camera on a laser-drilled hole on the front screen.
It also has triple-camera setup at the back. One of these is a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, the other one is a 24-megapixel f/1.7 main sensor, and lastly, the 5-megapixel f/2.2 sensor for real-time portrait effect.
The bottom part of the phone houses the USB-C port and single speaker grille. The left part are where the Bixby button and SIM tray, whereas the right has the volume rocker and power button.
It is also equipped with a Snapdragon 710 chip, a 6.4-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 6 to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and Android 8.1 Oreo.
In China, Samsung opened a registration page for interested buyers of the Galaxy A8s. No word yet on its international release and pricing.
