YouTube Ads Awards debuts in the Philippines

YouTube Philippines has announced the launch of the first YouTube Ads Awards in the country. In collaboration with adobo Magazine, the awards show will award the best creative storytelling in local YouTube ads. The initiative will recognize the best digital ads that resonates with Filipino viewers.

Besides awarding the best of the best, the YouTube Ads Awards attempts to encourage ad agencies to push for more engaging and interesting content amidst the current clout of dull advertising. As advertising tools diversify, the challenge is on to capture even a few seconds of an audience’s attention.

“Creativity is a big part of who we are as Filipinos, and it is strongly evident in how we value stories well-told in today’s advertising. Through YouTube Ads Awards, we celebrate digital creativity in ads that cut through the clutter and connect well with the Filipino audience,” said Google Philippines’ Country Marketing Manager Gabby Roxas.

The awards show spans 17 different categories divided according to either industry or storytelling format. Ten of which awards the best in sectors such as food and beverage, health and nutrition, and charities, among others. Six categories award the best in format such as 5-second intros, multi-videos, and 6-second storytelling. Additionally, one final category rewards the best in effectiveness. Video entries are judged based on content, engagement, effectiveness, and campaign results.

The judging panel is led by Leigh Reyes, president and chief creative officer of MullenLowe Philippines. She will be joined by Dennis Perez, co-chair of the Digital Measurement Board of the Philippines and the head of media of Unilever Philippines; Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and distribution at Cebu Pacific Air; Joe Dy, executive creative director at McCann Worldgroup Philippines; Mikey Bustos, YouTube content creator; and, Lourd de Veyra, television host and journalist.

To join the YouTube Ads Awards, participating organizations must submit their YouTube videos posted between the 1st of January 2017 to 15th of January 2018. They must also submit entry forms displaying their business metrics and post-campaign results.
