You can now play games on the Netflix app

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s too lazy to sit infront of a laptop, or turn on the smart TV, so I opted to browse Netflix on my phone. Well, 30 minutes have passed and I still haven’t decided what to watch. Apparently Netflix is concerned about our boredom/laziness because they just released games that we can play from the app itself.

You can search for ‘Netflix Games’ in the App Store or Google Playstore and you’ll see the current lineup of 5 games. There’s familiar titles like Stranger Things: 1984, and Stranger Things 3: The Game, but there’s also basic arcade fun like Teeter, Card Blast, and Shooting Hoops.

Once you download any of those games and start it up, you’ll be prompted to login with your Netflix account. After that, the main Netflix app will update itself and the next time you open it up, there’s an icon for games on the bottom row, and a separate page for it.

Multiple people on the same account can play simultaneously on different profiles, and the app will inform you if the number of active screens have been reached. Some of them (Netflix didn’t disclose which) are also available to be played offline. All titles are restricted from kids profiles and they recommend that you set up a pin on your adult profiles, which will be applicable to the games too.

The best thing is these games don’t have ads nor any form of in-app purchases. They are straight out for light gaming fun and targeted towards gamers of all levels. In their press release, Netflix said that they’re “excited to continue improving our mobile gaming experience and adding to our entertainment offering in the months ahead.”
