What we love about the new ZenBook 13 Burgundy Red

Paraphrasing Taylor Swift, “Loving you was Burgundy Red.” Or at least that’s what it feels like with ASUS’s new color option for the ZenBook 13, the brand’s most compact 13-inch laptop. It launched last year at IFA 2018 but now comes in this striking new color. Just as a quick refresher, we’re listing our favorite things about this laptop.

Color options

We love having options. We initially got the ZenBook 13 in Royal Blue and Icicle Silver. But now, we’re falling in love with the classy Burgundy Red option. It makes it seem like as much an accessory as a work machine. If you’re not afraid to stand out or have an affinity towards the color red, you’ll love this. The treatment is mostly matte with that signature concentric circles on the lid. It catches fingerprints but nothing a quick wipe down can get rid of.

Get lost in the display

With a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio combined with ASUS’ four-sided “Frameless” NanoEdge Display, watching shows or doing work on this 13.3-inch Full HD display is a great experience. ASUS cleverly used its ErgoLift Hinge to hide the bottom bezel, giving the screen your full attention. The said hinge is also meant to better your typing experience and optimize cooling and audio performance. It’s not the brightest display we’ve seen, but it’s immersive and perfect for those binge-watching sessions.

Carry it anywhere

Just a little bit smaller than an A4-sized paper, the ZenBook 13 is compact. It’s not the slimmest machine, but at around 1kg, it’s easy to carry around. You can slip it into a slightly bigger tote with ease. Its charging brick isn’t that large either. Portability is the name of the game. And we appreciate it.

Still get work done

Even though it’s portable, ASUS doesn’t scrimp on I/O ports. You get a USB 3.1 Type A port, USB 2.0 Type-A port, USB Type-C Gen 2 port, HDMI port, combo audio jack, and microSD slot. And that helps you get work done even while on the go. The ZenBook 13 works for a young mobile worker who wants to get work done no matter where they are. It can easily handle your documents and emails, online work, and even some basic photo and video editing. ASUS promises up to 14 hours of battery life with the ZenBook 13, so you can at least get through a work day without worrying about having to recharge.

Clever little trick

ASUS answers that long-time pain point of not having a numeric keypad in a compact laptop. The company calls it NumberPad and placed it on top of the touchpad. There’s a small icon at the top right of the touchpad that you can toggle to turn the NumberPad on or off. It’ll light up if it’s activated. The good news is you can still use the touchpad as a touchpad even with the NumberPad on. To activate it, though, you’ll need to press a bit harder, which makes sense since you wouldn’t want to accidentally toggle it if you don’t have any use for it.

The ASUS ZenBook 13 UX333 Burgundy Red comes with an Intel Core i5-8265U processor, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GeFore MX150 GPU, and 50Wh battery. It will retail for P66,995, and it will be available by March 2019 at ASUS Robinsons Ermita Concept Store and all ASUS Concept Stores nationwide.

To promote the launch of this new variant, ASUS has a new promo that would score you a lot of brownie points from your special someone.
