Uber Manila expands to east of Metro Manila

0

After some time taking over the Metro, Uber Manila is now expanding outwards into the east. Beginning today (May 2, 2016), Uber’s coverage area now includes areas to the east of Metro Manila such as Cainta, Taytay, Antipolo, and San Mateo.

To make it a sustainable expansion, Uber is including a P60 surcharge for vehicles heading to the east and whose final destinations end in the newly-serviced areas. The new surcharge ensures optimal availability in the new areas. It will also compensate for the drivers’ extended journey which should include longer idle times and duration in traffic.

Uber management also assures that the surcharge does not go to Uber itself. Rather, the extra fees will go to the partner-drivers, in full, for their vehicles’ maintenance.

Below is a map which details the areas covered by the new expansion. For a more accurate test if an area is included in the app’s coverage area, enter your destination on the app. Before hitting request, the app should return whether or not the area is included in the new expansion.
