Twitter for Mac gets a much needed update

Twitter has been neglecting its Mac app for so long but now it finally gets that much needed refresh. The newly redesigned app is now more or less able to match Twitter’s other clients on different platforms.

This new version gets features like inline video, animated GIFs, and Notification Center widget support. Its looks now also work more with the design aesthetic of Mac OS X Yosemite and El Capitan. For those who want it darker, the app even has a new dark mode, which matches the dark theme introduced in Yosemite.

It also now supports group messaging, the ability to mute specific accounts, and it supports new quote style for retweeting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Twitter’s new poll feature just yet. Here’s to hoping this update isn’t a one-time thing and Twitter gets back to this in the future.
