The OnePlus 10T: A more than capable & versatile flagship device

OnePlus is looking to further cement their position in the Philippine market by continuing to introduce products that have great specs while also being affordable. Their latest launch, the OnePlus 10T, is definitely no different.

Sporting the motto “Evolve Beyond Speed” which is also visible in the box’s design, OnePlus aims to provide its users with ultimate performance, as its 10T is a speed-leading flagship device powered by the most powerful Qualcomm mobile platform developed.

More than just a competent processor, however, the 10T also boasts a great display, respectable camera and an ultra-quick charge, to name a few.

Design:

The device comes in 2 colors; Moonstone Black for a more subtle, sleek design, and Jade Green for a more lively, dynamic one.

I’m a fan of the 10T’s design as there aren’t necessarily eye-popping traits that immediately standout, instead, subtle detailing that make it unique. At the back you’ll find the OnePlus logo stamped at the center, with a rectangular platform on the top left that houses the cameras which, unlike some other phones, isn’t protruding from the back as much. Another subtle detailing is in the time displayed on the lock screen, as a “1” always stands out if possible, obviously a nod to their branding.

Given the 10T’s build, it can be slightly heavier than other smartphones. However, the materials used give the device a very modern and premium feel, nonetheless.

All these elements add to the sleek and sly style that the OnePlus 10T embodies, which can serve as a reflection of the user’s on-the-go, lively lifestyle.

Display:

With a 6.7” 120Hz FHD+ Fluid Display, not only will you have a relatively large screen, but an immersive one at that, as its always-on HDR10+ and 10-bit color facilitate improved visuals.

I was impressed with the crisp detail and the vibrant colors the 10T’s display had. Whether watching videos on YouTube, streaming NBA’s preseason or playing online games, the display OnePlus has placed for the 10T can more than hold its own and is one of its most noteworthy aspects.

Moreover, one thing I noticed is that despite its large display, the 10T actually has minimal bezels, which is not the most common for phones of similar size. This ultimately gives you even more room to enjoy and play.

Camera:

Another one of the 10T’s characteristics that left a good impression on me was its camera, as its overall quality, quite frankly, exceeded my initial expectations.

Sporting a triple camera setup at the back, the 10T has a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, as well as a 2MP macro camera.

OnePlus has also equipped the device with flagship-level IMX766 sensor with OIS for better clarity and stability, which is evident when taking close-up shots of food or action shots when playing sports.

In terms of its selfie camera, on the other hand, OnePlus equipped the 10T with a respectable 16MP front camera. What caught my eye was not only its clarity, but the vibrance and color even when not in well-lit settings.

There are also numerous different features to play around with for whatever situation you may find yourself in; portrait mode, panoramic, slow-mo, dual-view video, Nightscape 2.0 for low-lit environments, ICE 2.0 for ultra-fast shutter start up and capture speeds, and Super HDR for improved image highlights and more vivid shadows, just to name a few.

Processor:

One of OnePlus’ main points of emphasis for its 10T is its next-gen Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which happens to be the fastest Snapdragon mobile platform in history, in order to deliver both blazing speeds and smooth performance.

Almost immediately after first using it I noticed just how truly smooth the 10T is. From launching apps snappily, scrolling through my news feed pleasantly and running multiple apps simultaneously when multitasking, the 10T is more than capable of handling all of these rather smoothly. This could be attributed to its 16GB of RAM and Always-Alive feature that facilitates a seamless experience as its server-level RAM management allows simultaneously running 35 apps easily.

There are many factors that make its processor as powerful as it is; a Cryo-velocity Vapor Cooling System combines a larger cooling area, advanced materials and a redesigned heat dissipation channel for even better thermal performance, while HyperBoost Gaming Engine allows a greater gaming experience with the GPA Frame Stabilizer, GLC (GPU Load Control) and Customized AI System Booster 2.1. These all ultimately allow you to not only play with faster and smoother optimization, but to do it even after extended gaming sessions.

Charge:

I’ve mentioned a few things that have caught my eye so far, but if there were to be a standout for that department, the award would go to the 10T’s 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition charging, which, in fact, happens to be OnePlus’ fastest in their history.

I was absolutely taken aback when I first charged my device when it was down to just 10%. Checking my phone after merely 30 minutes, I was in disbelief that it was already fully charged. So much so that I had to double check if the “100%” was indeed a hundred and not still stuck at “10%”, thinking I may have forgotten to actually plug it in the socket.

Taking it a step further, OnePlus has also allowed safe and smart charging. There are 13 temperature sensors, a smart charging chip, 128-bit encryption, as well as an AI algorithm that learns your charging behavior for charging optimization.

Verdict:

OnePlus’ 10T offers crisp display, snappy performance, a respectable camera and has a wickedly-quick charge, making it both a capable and versatile device. As a flagship device priced at only P35,990, the 10T makes for both an enticing and intriguing prospect.
