The all-new S08 i-DM introduces Jetour’s luxury side

Jetour has built quite a reputation for its rugged SUVs, particularly the off-road-ready T2 and T1. Of course, there’s also the more conventional X70 and the quirky little Ice Cream EV. But what if you want something with a little more sophistication? Something that puts comfort and luxury ahead of an adventurous image? That’s where the all-new Jetour S08 i-DM comes in. And here’s the interesting part: at PHP 1,798,000, it’s actually more affordable than the T1 i-DM.

At first glance, the S08 looks noticeably different from its rugged siblings. There’s a bit of Western influence in its design, particularly with the large grille and horizontal slats that give it a commanding presence. The shoulders are pronounced enough to give the SUV some character, but the rest of the body keeps things simple with smooth curves and clean lines. It’s a more understated approach that works well for a vehicle aiming to look premium.

Jetour also talks about the S08’s Diamond-ratio height and Golden Ratio body design. I’m no architect, but the proportions certainly give the SUV a balanced appearance. Beyond the styling, it gets Stellar Panoramic Headlights, 20-inch Starlight alloy wheels, and a powered tailgate with hands-free operation.

Step inside, and the S08 makes an even stronger case for its more luxurious character. The dashboard gets wood veneer accents, the center console looks neat and uncluttered, and the buttons are easy to spot. Even the steering wheel has a simpler, cleaner design. There’s also a choice between dark and cream-colored interior themes, depending on whether you prefer something subdued or a brighter, more upscale atmosphere.

Technology is another area where the S08 wants to impress. Taking center stage is a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen with what Jetour calls the “Sunflower” display. Activate the function, and the screen can tilt toward who called it – either the driver or front passenger. It’s a clever party trick, but one that could also make the screen easier to use. There’s also a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker sound system, and a 50W wireless charger. Perhaps more interesting is the refrigerator tucked beneath the front center armrest. That’s certainly something you don’t usually find in an SUV at this price point.

The attention to comfort doesn’t stop there. Both front seats come with heating, ventilation, and memory functions, with 6-way power adjustment for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the passenger. Even the second and third rows get powered adjustments, while one-touch access makes reaching the third row easier. Jetour also throws in luxury pillows, rear air-conditioning vents, and crystal-style seat adjustment buttons. Jetour claims the cabin offers 32 different configurations, including four Queen Bed modes that allow occupants to turn the interior into a more relaxing space.

Despite its focus on luxury, the S08 still has plenty of performance to offer. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine working alongside Jetour’s Intelligent Dual Electric Motor System. Together, they produce 347 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque. An 18.4 kWh battery allows the plug-in hybrid SUV to travel up to 85 kilometers on electric power alone, while its combined driving range is approximately 1,000 kilometers. That should give owners the flexibility to handle daily commutes on electric power while keeping the gasoline engine available for longer trips.

Jetour also equipped the S08 with a range of safety and convenience features, including electronic child locks, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.

The all-new Jetour S08 i-DM has a regular price of PHP 1,798,000, but buyers can get it for an introductory price of PHP 1,698,000 until November 30, 2026. It also comes with a 6-year or 1-million-kilometer vehicle warranty, a 10-year or 1-million-kilometer engine warranty, and an 8-year or 150,000-kilometer high-voltage battery warranty. Color choices include Azure Grey, Midnight Black, Morning Mist White, and Stream Silver.

With the S08 i-DM, Jetour is showing that it doesn’t have to rely on rugged styling and off-road capability to attract buyers. There’s room in its lineup for something more polished, comfortable, and family-oriented and the S08 fits the bill perfectly.
