Taking the ultimate selfie with the Vivo V7+

Twenty-four megapixels is quite a heft for a smartphone. Even now, the industry standard sits at a comfortable 12- to 16-megapixel range. Vivo takes the industry huge leaps forward by affixing a 24-megapixel camera to their new smartphone—the Vivo V7+. And here’s the clincher: this whopper of a camera sits in the front, rather than in the rear.

Following the rising trend of selfie-centric smartphones, the Vivo V7+ boasts of a front-facing shooter that characteristically blows away its rear shooter. This goes in line with Vivo’s mission to provide highly accessible smartphones for young professionals who are both media-savvy and expressive.

The new Vivo V7+ is a welcome addition to the brand’s popular V series of phones. Just a stone’s throw away from the Vivo V5 Plus launch earlier this year, the Vivo V7+ showcases Vivo’s drive to continuously bring its products to the next generation. The new smartphone adds another layer of premium performance to the brand’s already-premium products.

The 24-megapixel camera guarantees crystal-clear selfies even without the help of third-party apps. For those with an obsession for perfection, the Vivo V7+ comes installed with Face Beauty 7.0, a heady upgrade from Vivo’s well-used Face Beauty 6.0. The new software upgrade uses a better algorithm to provide better contrast and complexion. The phone also comes with Portrait Mode, a special feature that blurs backgrounds for professional-grade aperture focal adjustment.

Conversely, the phone’s 16-megapixel rear camera offers up a better way to shoot everything in between with PDAF technology and optimized algorithms. The Vivo V7+ is a competent shooter front and back.

The Vivo V7+’s FullView Display complements the phone’s hardy camera performance. The physical phone itself feels like 5.5-inch screen but it offers a much wider visual performance. The FullView Display offers a 5.99-inch screen rather than the usual 5.5-inch display. The smartphone adds to the dawning trend of 18:9 resolution, the next step from 16:9 widescreen. The new screen increases the phone’s screen-to-body ration to 84.4 percent.

The 18:9 FullView Display is also a complement to the smartphone’s gaming experience. Further, the Vivo V7+ carries a Game Mode feature, which blocks incoming calls and messages from interrupting the gaming experience.

Under the hood, the Vivo V7+ rocks an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC processor chip, providing adequate performance for even the most hardcore of gamers. The chip is couple with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card).

The smartphone comes pre-installed with Funtouch OS 3.2, Vivo’s take on Android 7.1 Nougat. The custom ROM is an unobtrusive Android experience that adds a touch of flavor to Android’s vanilla firmware. The phone is also capable of handling dual nano-SIMs.

One of Vivo’s key in-house technologies is its Hi-Fi audio capabilities. With research and development centers specifically built for its smartphones’ audio features, Vivo continuously installs bigger and better audio technology for their new entries to the market. The V7+’s fully-upgraded AK4376A Hi-Fi audio chip guarantees rich and complex rhythms that take the audio experience to whole new levels.

Vivo is also adding to its smartphones’ security and protection with the inclusion of a face ID access feature which will allow users to unlock their phones without pressing even a single button. The new feature rides the rising tide of facial recognition technology previously popularized by Apple. Previously, Vivo was known only for its under-display fingerprint recognition technology.

Smart Split 3.0 is another feature that adds to the phone’s convenience. With just a single swipe down with three fingers, users can split the screen in two. Videos no longer have to be interrupted by a rapid barrage of messages and calls.

Finally, the Vivo V7+ boasts of a 3,225mAh battery, a tad bit larger than most smartphones. This serves up an increased longevity for optimal entertainment enjoyment.

The new Vivo V7+ is priced at Php17,990 and will be available in two shades: Champagne Gold and Matte Black.
