TAG Heuer celebrates its enduring partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing with a striking new solar-powered timepiece that combines the adrenaline of Formula 1 with Swiss watchmaking innovation.

TAG Heuer. From its legendary timepieces named after racing icons — Carrera, Monaco, Monza —to its long association with Formula 1 as official timekeeper, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has built much of its reputation around precision, performance, and the relentless pursuit of speed.

Now, TAG Heuer takes that racing heritage in an exciting new direction with the introduction of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph x Oracle Red Bull Racing, a special-edition timepiece that brings together the distinctive colors of one of Formula 1’s most successful teams and the practicality of solar-powered Swiss watchmaking.

With its vivid blue dial, red accents, distinctive yellow seconds hand, and robust stainless-steel construction, the new watch is unmistakably inspired by the world of Grand Prix racing. But beyond its motorsport-inspired appearance lies a thoroughly modern movement that harnesses light to keep time.

A decade of racing success

The relationship between TAG Heuer and Oracle Red Bull Racing stretches back to 2016, when the Swiss watchmaker joined forces with the Formula 1 team. Since then, TAG Heuer has served as Official Timekeeper, Official Watch, and Team Performance Partner, sharing the team’s commitment to precision, innovation, and competitive excellence.

Oracle Red Bull Racing has established an extraordinary record since its founding in 2004, accumulating six Formula 1 Constructors’ Championships and multiple Drivers’ Championships, including four World Drivers’ titles for Max Verstappen.

That winning pedigree provides the inspiration for the latest collaboration. Rather than simply placing a racing team’s logo on an existing watch, TAG Heuer has incorporated Oracle Red Bull Racing’s visual identity into the Formula 1 Solargraph’s overall design.

The result is a timepiece that communicates its motorsport connection without sacrificing the character of the Formula 1 collection itself.

Racing colors, Swiss precision

The first thing that captures the eye is the watch’s brilliant blue sunray-brushed dial, which serves as the perfect canvas for the team’s distinctive racing colors. A contrasting red flange surrounds the dial, introducing a bold visual element that recalls the energy and intensity of Formula 1 competition.

Bold circular black-and-white hour markers and hands provide a strong contrast against the blue background, while Super-LumiNova ensures legibility in low-light conditions. The luminous material emits a green glow in darkness, further enhancing the watch’s sporty personality. Perhaps the most striking detail is the bright yellow seconds hand, giving the dial an additional burst of visual energy.

The case measures a versatile 38mm in diameter, with a thickness of 10.2mm. Its sandblasted stainless-steel finish gives the watch a purposeful, technical appearance that’s particularly appropriate for a motorsport-inspired timepiece.

Surrounding the dial is a bidirectional rotating bezel fashioned from TAG Heuer’s proprietary TH-Polylight material, another distinctive feature of the modern Formula 1 collection.

Turn the watch over and the motorsport connection becomes even more apparent. The stainless-steel caseback features the TAG Heuer and Oracle Red Bull Racing logos, complemented by a checkered-flag pattern that pays tribute to the ultimate symbol of racing success.

Completing the package is a sandblasted stainless-steel bracelet secured by a folding clasp with a double-security mechanism. With water resistance rated at 100 meters, the watch is designed to withstand the demands of everyday wear while maintaining its sporting character.

Solargraph: A different kind of engine

While its appearance is unmistakably inspired by racing, the new Formula 1 Solargraph’s most interesting technological feature is hidden under the hood. Powering the watch is TAG Heuer’s Solargraph Calibre TH50-00, a solar-powered quartz movement designed to combine precision, convenience, and long-term reliability.

Unlike conventional quartz watches that depend on periodic battery replacement, the Solargraph movement converts both natural and artificial light into electrical energy.

This means that the watch can recharge simply through exposure to everyday light, eliminating the need for the wearer to deliberately wind it or regularly connect it to a charger. A full charge can provide an impressive 10 months of autonomy, allowing the watch to continue running even when kept away from light for extended periods.

Even more remarkable is the movement’s ability to generate enough energy for an entire day’s operation through just a brief exposure to light. The rechargeable battery is engineered to provide a lifespan of up to 15 years, reducing the maintenance requirements associated with traditional battery-powered quartz watches.

The Calibre TH50-00 displays the hours, minutes, seconds, and date, prioritizing practical timekeeping over unnecessary complications. For a watch associated with a Formula 1, that is a particularly fitting approach.

Reimagining an icon from the 80s

The new Oracle Red Bull Racing edition also draws upon an important chapter in TAG Heuer’s own history. The original TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection debuted in 1986, introducing a new generation of enthusiasts to Swiss watchmaking through colorful, accessible, and distinctly sporty watches. With their bold cases, distinctive rotating bezels, and vibrant combinations of colors, those early Formula 1 models quickly became recognizable symbols of the era. They also represented a different approach to Swiss watchmaking, one that embraced contemporary materials, youthful styling, and practical quartz technology.

Four decades later, TAG Heuer continues to build upon that foundation. The contemporary Formula 1 Solargraph collection preserves much of the original’s visual personality while incorporating updated case construction, improved finishing, refined ergonomics, and advanced solar-powered movements. The 38mm case gives the watch a more compact and wearable profile than many oversized contemporary sports watches, while retaining enough visual presence to showcase its colorful racing-inspired design.
