Once again fulfilling the dreams of countless fans, Nintendo is taking back the golden age of 16-bit gaming, making old-time gamers shudder with nostalgia and new-age gamers bounce with anticipation. This September 29th, Nintendo will be releasing the ever so wonderful Super NES Classic Edition.

For US$79.99 (around P4,000), the Super NES has the original look and feel of the ’90s home console only, it’s smaller while also fully loaded with 21 games. Awesome, right? For the full list of the games, visit this link.

Some of the classic games included in the system are: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Super Metroid.

Not only that, but Nintendo has also included the never before played Star Fox 2, which was only widely available as a ROM since it was canceled before its release. Though, in order to finally play it, you have to beat the first level of the original Star Fox game (which is of course, also included in the system).

The system comes with two retro Super NES classic controllers for multiplayer gaming but if those controllers ever get lost or, for some reason, are broken, worry not ‘cause the Super NES Classic Edition is compatible with the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro accessories. Just plug it in and you’re good to go! Along with the controllers, there is an HDMI cable, USB charging cable, and AC adapter.

As if the excitement for the Super NES wasn’t enough, Nintendo also made way for the Classic Mini Super Famicom.

To be released in Japan on October 5th, the palm-sized console is a reissue of the original Super Famicom launched in 1990.

Slightly similar to the Super NES, the Classic Mini Super Famicom has a variety of 21 games like the classics: Super Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and the never-before released Star Fox 2.

According to Osaka-based writer who contributes to the game website Kotaku and the Japan Times, Brian Ashcraft, Star Fox 2 is considered “legendary” because of its cancellation. Based on Nintendo’s website, the game was developed 20 years ago as a sequel to the 1993 rail shooting game Star Fox, but it was never released.

Some games in the Classic Mini Famicom have been switched, however. The Mini Super FamiCom takes away Earthbound, Super Castlevania IV, Super Punch-Out, Kirby’s Dream Course, and Street Fighter II Turbo and replaces them with Fire Emblem: The Mystery of the Emblem, Ganbare Goemon: The Legend of The Mystical Ninja, Super Soccer, Panel De Pon, and Super Street Fighter II.

The Classic Mini Super Famicom system will cost ¥7,980 (around P3,600), with an AC adapter to be sold separately for ¥1,000 (around P450).

Excited? Then Nintendo is doing its job perfectly well.
