Sony has been relatively quiet in the local smartphone scene. But that’s about to change. They’re making a comeback now with its new Xperia Z5 line. These are the five things you need to know about the new handsets.

  1. There are three of them that made its debut at Green Sun Hotel yesterday. The Xperia Z5 Compact, the Xperia Z5, and the Xperia Z5 Premium. 3. Sony’s brings its α interchangeable lens technology into its Xperia Z5 line. These phones have the new 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23-megapixel sensor and F2.0 G Lens. Sony is boasting extremely fast autofocus (speeds of around 0.03 seconds, which is said to be faster than the blink of a human eye) and jolt-free shots and videos with SteadyShot technology.

  5. The Xperia Z5 Premium is the first to pack in 4K resolution display. Why? Because Sony can. Imagine being able to shoot and watch 4K content right on your mobile phone. It can upscale your content to as close to 4K but we’d have to test this further to see any difference. This might be a case of “just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you should.” It might also be a bit of an issue with the lack of 4K content in the country. But if you are a stickler for video and display quality or you want the bragging rights of being ahead of the pack, we’re sure you’ll be pretty excited for this.
