It looks like Sony is trying to reinvent its flagship smartphone, if this new leak is anything to go by. GSM Arena released photos of what they claim is Sony’s upcoming flagship: the Xperia F8331.
What’s new here? It shows a new look that’s unlike any of the Xperia Z phones. It’s boxier with the top and bottom flat but with its sides curved. It reminds us a bit of Lumia devices.
Its front features a 1080p screen that is slightly bigger than the Xperia X Performance, the back shows a brushed metal finish. It gets a new rear camera layout with dual-LED Flash below the camera sensor. The rear also features a panel at the bottom, which GSM Arena speculates is an antenna windows since it has front-facing stereo speakers.
In the front, Sony opted to place the NFC antenna by the earpiece (we’re not sure why). There’s a 3.5mm on top. And this device will also be the first from Sony to feature a USB Type-C port.
No word on its possible release date yet but since Sony will be at IFA, they’re speculating this device might make an appearance there.
