Samsung debuts P43k Galaxy Note Edge

You want it, they brought it. Samsung Philippines has launched the more unique and innovative brother of the Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge. The Note Edge has most of the same specs of the Note 4 but the main difference is the display wraps around to the edge of the right side.

It takes a bit of getting used to in hand, especially because it’s a bit wider than usual 5.6-inch device because of the screen. You’ll feel like you’ll accidentally launch an app you didn’t want to open because of this. But Samsung integrated palm rejection technology into the side display. It’ll only activate when you intentionally swipe it.

Sadly, it isn’t metal-clad like the Galaxy A series. That could’ve upped the premium feel of the device (although that might hike up the price even more). The faux leather back means it isn’t a fingerprint magnet so it gets points for that.

Getting to play around with it for a bit we got to see some of the differentiating features of Note Edge. It can show you app notifications, display your favorite apps, act as a digital clock at night, and been an extension of certain apps. For example, the controls for Samsung’s camera app is located at the screen to the side. And the camera button adjusts if you change the orientation of the device so it’ll be closer to your thumb.

If you like being an early adopter, we’re sure you’d want to get your hands on this. It is going to cost you a lot though at P43,990. And you’ll have to be quick about because there will be a limited number of units that will be sold here (1,000 to be exact).

You can pre-order the Note Edge at Samsung Experience Stores around the country until February 15. If you pre-order, it will come with exclusive freebies, like free flip cover worth P1,499; an extended warranty that covers two years; and free content and services including one season pass to any available TV series on Seasons, free bookings for three rides from GrabTaxi, and five complimentary passes to a special movie bundle from Blink. You can pay for the device using three payment modes: cash, straight card payment, or through a zero interest installment scheme over an 18-month period for BPI and local Citibank credit card holders.
