Samsung introduces metal-clad Galaxy A series

If the new Galaxy A series from Samsung reminds you of a certain smartphone from a Cupertino-based company, we won’t blame you. Samsung is looking to infuse some premium materials into its midrange line and they’re going all metal to do that.

Samsung introduced three of the new Galaxy A devices-the Galaxy A7, A5, and A3. All three devices are built with metal unibodies (yes, this means they have non-removable batteries), which is a first for the South Korean brand. Getting a sneak peek of the three devices, they feel very light and settle nicely in hand.

Targeting the selfie-loving yuppies, its 5-megapixel front cameras introduce features like Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, Animated GIF, and Beauty Face features.

All devices will be LTE ready but only the A7 will have dual SIM capability. The A7 will also be the first to introduce a hybrid slot for a nano SIM or microSD.

You can check out the specs below:

As seen in the table, these midrange devices carry the following suggested retail prices: P16,990 for the A3, P19,990 for the A5, and P24,990 for the A7. The A3 and A5 will be available this month, while the A7 will come around February. Globe will reportedly carry the A3, while they are in talks with Smart to carry the A3 and A5. No word yet if the telcos will also carry the A7.
