Samsung brings out new and improved Galaxy A Series

This year’s Samsung Galaxy S7 is undoubtedly a great smartphone. Let’s face it, though: spending almost P40,000 on a new smartphone may not be a wise decision for your wallet. Having flagship specs on a budget-friendly phone is much more of a bargain than what your wallet lets on.

Samsung has one of the widest ranges a brand can muster. Following their flagship line, the S Series, the A Series takes the features that made its flagships great. Now, Samsung has updated their A Series to match up with the titans of the S Series of 2016 by releasing an updated Galaxy A5 and adding a brand-new Galaxy A7.

Absolutely sleek

The Galaxy A Series shares the new design philosophy of the S Series—a sleek, new metal and glass design. The new philosophy accentuates the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 faces and the sleek metal sides. Like the S Series, the camera is flatter, leaving only a tiny protrusion from the back.

The Galaxy A5 carries a 5.2-inch FHD Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy A7 has a bigger 5.5-inch variant.

Absolutely powerful

The Galaxy A Series is powered by an Exynos 7580 1.6GHz octa-core processor. Even with an ample 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the Galaxy A Series is expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card. The series is also a Dual SIM hybrid and LTE Cat6 capable.

Owing to Samsung’s top-notch camera technology, the Galaxy A phones carry a 13MP rear and 5MP front camera combination. These cameras are improved by an f/1.9 lens and optical image stabilization. Inside the phone, the camera is complemented by a Quick Launch feature which enables users to turn on the camera in just 0.7 seconds.

Out of the box, the phone’s insides come with Android Lollipop. No word yet as to when it will be updated to Marshmallow.

Claiming a charge time of just 110 minutes, the Galaxy A Series has an updated battery that holds 2,900mAh for the Galaxy A5 and 3,300mAh for the Galaxy A7.
