Home Lifestyle Review: realme Smart TV — A 43-inch bargain at just PHP18,990

Review: realme Smart TV — A 43-inch bargain at just PHP18,990

Yes, you read that right. As realme Philippines continues to expand their product lineup with the realme Techlife, they still manage to keep their prices extremely affordable. This extends to their range of LED Smart TV’s in two sizes (32-inch and 43-inch with respective resolution of 1366×768 px and 1920×1080 px). These highly anticipated televisions will initially be available on Shopee, released officially during the Shopee 3.3 Mega Shopping Sale, MIDNIGHT 12NN.

Design and display

The realme Smart TV features the brand’s 43-inch bezel-less Ultra Bright Display with Chroma Boost Picture Engine to enhance the overall visual clarity of whatever you put on display, whether going through your photo gallery or streaming your favorite film. This clever design means that the bezels, or “frame” around the television measures in at a super-thin 8.7mm.

This smart TV’s ultra-high brightness of up to 400+ nits peak makes the TV screen clearly visible even in bright rooms. It features 16.7 million colors. You can also see the TV content clearly even from the side with the same high quality with a visual angle of up to 178 degrees.

The realme Smart TV has seven display modes: Standard, Vivid, Sport, Movie, Game, Energy Saving and User. You can choose different modes depending on what you are watching. However, its standard mode is too heavy on black resulting in a loss of detail and darker shadows.

The realme Smart TV supports two placement modes — mount mode and stand mode. The TV is compatible with the standard VESA bracket.

Dolby Audio Speakers

The realme Smart TV’s 24W Quad Stereo Speakers feature Dolby Audio, and each speaker contains a full-range speaker and silk dome tweeter which can reproduce sound from 148Hz to 20,000Hz. This tweeter is capable of delivering the high frequency sounds, while the full-range speaker can play a range of audio demands. With Dolby Audio I was expecting a cinematic surround-sound experience due to its dynamic range control features as mentioned earlier, however, it wasn’t as grand as I thought. With this, realme is also offering their sound bar which you can buy separately.

Under the hood

The realme Smart TV is Android TV-certified (Android 9.0), meaning you can access the Google Play store to download thousands of compatible apps like Netflix, YouTube and PrimeVideo (which are built-in already), movies, shows, games and music. The TV’s processor allows for respectable browsing and loading, but it’s not the quickest with its respectable MediaTek 64-bit Quad-Core Processor, an ARM Cortex A53 1.1GHz CPU and a new Mali-470 MP3 GPU. For the price however, it is more than adequate.

In terms of physically controlling the realme Smart TV, an all-in-one Smart Remote is both ergonomically and conveniently designed to let you comfortably grip and access features the TV has to offer. It has shortcuts for Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video. You can also choose sources: TV, AV, and HDMI 1-3 — it doesn’t include a USB option even if there are two USB ports. To access a USB port, you must input one and wait for it to read and open its files. Once you exit, you’ll only be able to access the USB again by pulling it out and plugging it in. In the middle of the volume buttons on the bottom of the remote is the Google Assistant to control your Android TV with your voice, customize your online surfing experience to enjoy unique interests and access a variety of content through the Google Play Store and YouTube.

The realme Smart TV has Chromecast built in, which can synchronize the video programs, movies, TV, music and other content on your TV. At the same time, you can also connect your phone to the smart TV and view photos and watch videos.

The realme Smart TV is both 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 ready, on top of having multiple connectivity options and ports. In addition, three HDMI ports, two USB ports, one ANT, AV and LAN port, and one Digital Audio Out are in place so plugging-and-playing your entertainment peripherals is simple to get going.

Pricing and availability

The realme Smart TV provides all the essentials to be able to achieve the kind of entertainment you need. The colors can easily be adjustable, speakers were par for the course but it may be improved if you get it with the Soundbar (that comes with full-range speaker) and which also comes with a subwoofers. realme is offering this 43-inch TV for only PHP18,990 while the 32-inch is priced at PHP11,990. Both of these will be offered with PHP3,000 discount tomorrow for Shopee’s 3.3 Mega Shopping Sale to get the best deal possible!
