The recently launched OPPO R17 Pro marks the return of the R series into the Philippine market. And it introduces the new segment with a bang, suiting the look and specs that power the device.
It comes with a “three-color and bi/quad-direction” gradient design in a color the company calls Radiant Mist. It’s one of those devices you have to see in person to appreciate. With a light-condensing layer, its misted glass casing lets light flow through the surface, showing how the colors shift from a purple to blue.
OPPO pairs this with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (2,340 x 1,080) and 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The company uses a “waterdrop” notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor to give you as much screen as possible.
The R17 Pro also comes with the company’s SuperVOOC flash charging technology, promising to give you up to 40 percent of battery in only 10 minutes.
OPPO shores up the photo-taking capabilties of the R17 Pro with upgrades to both its hardware and software. It comes with software-level AI Ultra-clear Engine that allows users to take high-quality night photos. And the company partners this with its first triple-sensor-toting camera phone.
It has a Sony IMX362 as its main camera, which has 12 megapixels with dual-pixel for quick and accurate focusing, and 1.4-micron pixels size and 1/2.55 sensor size, for brighter night shots and lower noise level. This has a variable smart aperture of f1.5/f2.4, which can automatically adjust to the lighting conditions making images sharper and clearer in both bright and low light situations. The R17 Pro has OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which can stabilize images and guarantee a longer exposure time to brighten night-time photography, especially with a 7P lens module.
There’s also a secondary 20-megapixel camera, which provides extra detail and depth in portrait shots. The third shooter is called a TOF 3D camera meant to capture 3D images of an object or person. In front, you get a 25-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Priced at P38,990, the R17 Pro is a premium handset. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor with Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage.
The R17 Pro will be available in selected OPPO stores nationwide, Home Credit via a nine-month instalment at 0% interest, Globe Plan 2499, BDO credit card via 24-month instalment at 0% interest and comes with free Bluetooth earphones. Pre-orders will run until November 23, 2018.
