OPPO outs 16MP front camera-toting F1 Plus in the PH

OPPO is setting a precedent when they announced a few weeks back the release of the F1 Plus. What’s unique about it? It’s the first smartphone with a front camera that has more megapixels than its rear. It sports 16-megapixel shooter in front (and 13-megapixel in the back) to bring some high-resolution selfies in your future and help cement that self-touted “Selfie Expert” OPPO has attached to this line of devices.

The F1 Plus promises to take clear and bright front photos in whatever area you find yourself in. We have to test this feature further before we can say for certain this works that way. It also comes with the slew of features selfie-lovers will like, including a new selfie beautification app Beauty 4.0 that’ll help you show your best (albeit photo edited) self online as well as Selfie Panorama to help make sure you get everyone in the shot.

With looks that are a complete nod to a certain Cupertino-based brand with a fruit for its name, it has a metal unibody chassis with chamfered edges. It feels solid yet light in hand. Its curved glass in front complements the rest of the phone, making for a rather pleasant feel in hand. Its 5.5-inch AMOLED display gets maximum real estate with extremely thin bezels, bringing you as close to a curved screen as you can get. You get added security with the home button also serving as a fingerprint scanner.

Specswise, we have high expectations for the F1 Plus as it carries 4GB of RAM, a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 octa-core processor, 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD), and a 2,850mAh battery that supports OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge (which promises 75 percent capacity in just 30 minutes of charging). It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop skinned with OPPO’s ColorOS 3.0 and supports two SIMs.

The OPPO F1 Plus will retail for P21,990 when it drops on April 30th. The phone is available for pre-order until April 29th with a P1,000 downpayment and a free OPPO selfie stick to come when you claim the unit at the end of the month. OPPO mentioned at the press launch they will be offering the F1 Plus with 0% interest if you opt to pay for it by card and on an installment basis.
