Nike just made the perfect slip-on sneakers

I’ve never liked lacing my shoes. Oftentimes, I’d lace them up with enough slack so I can slip them on. This is why I’m not really interested in Nike meeting the deadline for their self-lacing technology that they ‘teased’ in the 1985 film Back to the Future. However, they have something new that my wallet won’t be happy about.

Nike just unveiled the new Go FlyEase. It’s a laceless slip-on sneaker that’s so easy to wear, you won’t have to use your hands.

The design features the Go FlyEase tensioner which goes from near the tip of the toes to the back, around the heel part of the shoe. It basically allows the sneaker to be ‘broken’ in two so the sole can pop up, and snap back into place. Underneath the folding point is a ‘bi-stable hinge’ that allows the shoes to be somehow folded so your feet can easily go inside. Just put your feet in place and step on it, and it’s ready for your adventure.

Removing them is just as easy. Just take them off how you lazily take off your other shoes. The only difference is, this one is meant to be operated just like that. It has an extended heel platform at the back so you can easily step on it and remove your shoe one at a time.

Back in 2015, the FlyEase was unveiled as the solution to those who cannot lace their shoes anymore due to a number of problems like sickness, old age, or disabilities. Nike, with Tobie Hatfield at the helm of the project, addressed the issue by making a wrap-around zipper at the heel so it can be worn with only one hand. The new Go FlyEase takes this further by not needing any hands or even crouching at all in order to be worn.

The new Nike Go FlyEase will be available later this year for $120. Not bad for such a revolutionary new design.
