Netflix to crack down on VPN users

You may or may not admit to it but there are users of Netflix in the country ahead of the launch of the service locally. Your days of using VPNs or proxies might be numbered.

Netflix plans to take a more proactive approach when it comes to blocking VPNs that give users here, for example, access to content only licensed in the US or Canada. The company will be using “evolving” proxy detectors, which is said to be similar to what other companies use.

David Fullagar, vice president of Content Delivery Architecture at Netflix, says this shouldn’t affect users who don’t use proxies. He also promises that they are working on bringing their entire catalogue to all its users around the world. But with tricky licensing deals, that might take a while.
