Netflix considers offline playback

If there’s one thing iflix has managed to one-up Netflix on, it’s offline playback capabilities. And in our country with spotty internet connectivity and endless traffic, it’s a welcome feature. It looks like Netflix might be considering the option.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos sat down to talk with CNBC and they discussed about this possibility. Sarandos says they are considering bringing the option to countries where access to high speed internet is more of a challenge.

Sarandos won’t say when the feature will launch but that they are “looking at it now, so we’ll see when.” According to CNBC, the feature might allow users to download movies to watch offline. But without an official launch, we can’t say if this will be the case.

Based on what Sarandos said though, we’re deducing that we might get the feature, if Netflix decides to give it a go. And even if it’s just for movies, we’d still take it. But honestly, we won’t be averse to re-watching Stranger Things while stuck in an internet-less place.
