These are the top Netflix shows in the Philippines

Netflix had a pretty big year. It launched on January 6, 2016 in 130 countries and amassed nine million accounts since then. The streaming service has streamed over 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day. After spending US$5 billion on original content this year, Netflix released 31 scripted shows (existing and new), 24 original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials, and 30 original kids shows.

Here in the country the popular shows Netflix users were into include Orange Is The New Black, Stranger Things, Narcos, House of Cards, The OA, Marvel’s Luke Cage, Designated Survivor, and The Crown. And as earlier reported by Netflix, it isn’t in the first episode that users get hooked with the service. On average, it takes us Filipinos around four episodes to get hooked on a show. Aside from that, we tend to pair our TV binge-watching sessions with a movie from a similar genre. For example, fans of Stranger Things found themselves watching Super 8, another sci-fi thriller set in the ’80s.

Next year, Netflix plans to bring over 1,000 hours of original content including Marvel’s Iron Fist, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Sense8 Season 2, Master of None Season 2, Stranger Things Season 2, War Machine, The Discovery, The Defenders, and Santa Clarita Diet
