#MWC2015: Lenovo Mobile Extravaganza

As you would expect, Lenovo introduced a number of smartphones and tablets at this year’s Mobile World Congress. However, the Chinese company also took this opportunity to introduce a pocket projector companion for Android devices.

The VIBE Shot

First off, Lenovo has taken a shot off Samsung’s Galaxy Zoom phones. The VIBE Shot is a point-and-shoot camera and Android phone hybrid. From the rear, it looks very much like your average point-and-shoot camera with the camera lens on the top right. The camera is partnered with a tri-color flash. The 16MP sensor is a 16:9, full-frame, low-light sensor which is great for taking photos in low-light conditions. At the front is an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The VIBE Shot also features smart settings and pro settings for more advanced users.

As a phone, the VIBE Shot is a dual-SIM phone that features a 5-inch FHD display backed by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit quad-core processor and 3GBs of RAM. You also have 32GB of storage to save all those photos. The VIBE Shot runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and comes in Crimson, Pearl White, and Graphite Grey.

The A7000

The A7000 is the successor to the A6000 smartphone. The A7000 main feature is that it is the first smartphone to have Dolby Atmos to give more depth to your listening while watching movies and listening to music on the A7000. Seapking of watching movies, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD display. The A7000 is no slouch, though. This dual-SIM phone features MediaTek’s True8Core processor with LTE running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The Lenovo A7000 smartphone will comes in Onyx Black and Pearl White.

Lenovo also introduced its Pocket Projector accessory for Android phones. This lets you share videos and movies for up to 110-inches on any flat surface with its 50 lumen high-contrast optical engine. As for the sound, the Lenovo Pocket Projector also comes with dual-speakers for everyone to share.

Lenovo also announced three tablets. Starting with the Lenovo TAB 2 A8, it is an 8-inch tablet that features Mediatek’s True8Core 64-bit processor with 1GB of RAM. You have a choice of a WiFi-only version or one with LTE. You also get 8GB and 16GB storage options as well with a microSD expansion port for up to 32GB. Its bigger brother, the Lenovo Tab 2 A10 has more RAM at 2GB and only 16GB of storage with a microSD port for up to 64GB aside from the 10-inch display. There is also a LTE version alongside the WiFi-only version. While the A8 comes with Android 5.0 out of the box, the A10 will have 4.4 KitKat with 5.0 Lollipop coming after launch.

The Lenovo ideapad MIIX 300 is Lenovo’s 8-inch Windows 8.1 with Bing tablet running Intel’s Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. Storage can get as big as 64GB which is expandable with a microSD port. The 8-inch display has a resolution of 1280×800. The ideapad MIIX 300 also comes with a free one year subscription of Microsoft Office.

Pricing for the Lenovo VIB Shot starts at $349 (around PhP15,400) while the A7000 starts at $169 (around PhP7,500). The Lenovo Pocket Projector will start at $249 (around PhP11,000). As for the tablets, the Lenovo TAB 2 A8 start at $129 (around PhP5,700) and $179 (around PhP7,900) for the LTE version. The Lenovo TAB 2 A10 starts at $199 (around PhP8,800) and $279 (around PhP12,300) for the LTE version. The Lenovo ideapad MIIX 300 starts at $149 (around PhP6,600). There is still no word on when they will be available locally.
