MWC 2017: Google announces widespread Assistant and Allo integration

0

Unlike other tech companies, Google is keeping mum on their plans for 2017. At MWC, at least. Google has been known to hold their own bigger and louder events after all. (Who can forget last year’s Pixel announcement?) Google wasn’t totally silent at MWC, though. They made a couple of software and integration announcements to join the fray of new gadgets and gizmos.

Meet Your Google Assistant

Previously exclusive on Google’s Pixel phones, Google is rolling out its virtual assistant to all devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and up. Taking voice commands to the next level, Google Assistant is the product of Google’s AI investments, and it received praises from reviewers that it can actually hold a conversation. Pair the machine-learning AI to a vast majority of Google services, and you might never have to tap your phone’s screen ever again.

There’s not much detail on when and where it will be available, just that Google will integrate Google Assistant in one of its Google Play Services update.

Allo Integration

Allo is one of Google’s chat apps. Yes, they have quite a few. One thing that sets Allo apart though is its integration with Google Assistant. Integrating Allo with Google Assistant can help users who are not aware such a service exists.
