MSI goes all-in on PC gaming at Computex 2016

Computex 2016, the biggest annual global ICT convention held in Southeast Asia, is well underway and one of the companies that always makes a big showing at the annual convention is MSI, one of the world’s leading technology and hardware manufacturers, and this year is proving to be no different as the company has already unveiled a slew of new technology including laptops, desktops, and a VR backpack PC that are all focused on one thing – PC gaming. This year, MSI is going all out and all in on PC gaming and their announcements and unveilings at Computex 2016 show just that.

Gaming Laptops – the MSI GS63 Stealth Pro, MSI GT83/GT73, and MSI GS73

MSI opened up their Computex 2016 announcements with a trio of laptops set to change the portable gaming scene in a big way. The first is the MSI GS63 Stealth Pro, winner of the Computex 2016 Best Choice Golden Award, which features an incredibly slim 17.7mm ultra slim chassis which makes it weigh only 1.9kg, practically making it the world’s lightest gaming laptop. It also features an impressive cooling system that composes of five heatpipes and enhanced Whirlwind Blade fans that work with the laptop’s dual thermal modules to assure that the Core i7 6700HQ processor and GTX970M graphics chip are well cooled even in the middle of heated gaming session.

The second laptop MSI unveiled at Computex 2016 is the MSI GT83/GT73 Titan SLI, a monster of a laptop that is set to become the next portable VR SLI platform. The GT83/GT73 is the next generation of MSI’s Titan series of high-end laptops that feature a full-sized Cherry MX mechanical keyboard and GTX980 SLI or GTX980M SLI graphics. The GT83/GT73 Titan SLI is the perfect portable VR platform or, via MSI’s Matrix Display technology, can be hooked up to three 4K displays for Surround View Mode.

Lastly, the MSI GS73 features the same aluminum chassis and brushed metal design of the its predecessors but now it comes with GTX970M graphics as well as the company’s Cooler Boost Trinity cooling solution making it one of the coolest laptops in the market. It also comes with an array of gaming features such as a SteelSeries gaming keyboard, SteelSeries Engine 3 software, True Color Technology, ESS SABRE HiFi Audio, Nahimic Audio Enchancer, and more.

Gaming Desktops – the MSI Vortex, MSI Aegis, and MSI Backpack PC

MSI also announced a trio of powerful desktop solutions including a unique VR-specific platform that’s meant to free gamers from the limits of a fixed VR platform. The first of the new desktops is the MSI Vortex which features a unique semi-cylindrical design that won it a Computex 2016 d&i award. Only 6.5L big, the Vortex is equipped with a desktop Intel processor, two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SLI graphics cards, and the company’s 360-degree Silent Storm Cooling design.

Then there’s the MSI Aegis Series Gaming Desktop which comes in a more traditional form factor with a 19.6L case but still carries the strong design styles the company is known for.  It features an Intel Core K-series processor allowing users to either manually or automatically overclock and boost the performance of the Aegis Series with a push of a button. It features NVIDIA’s latest GeForce GTX graphics and a special front-mounted HDMI connector to make connecting the rig to a VR device convenient.

Last but definitely not the least is the MSI Backpack PC, a desktop computer shaped as a backpack, the Backpack PC was designed to give VR users the freedom to move around and enjoy VR with total immersion as the fear of accidentally unplugging the wires between the VR device and platform is removed. The Backpack PC is packed with a high-end Intel Core i7 processor as well as an NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 graphics card for full and free VR support.

All-in-One PCs – Gaming 27 and Gaming 24

MSI also announced and showed off two Gaming All-in-One PCs – the Gaming 27 and Gaming 24 – that feature Intel’s latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M and GTX970M/980M graphics solutions. The new all-in-one gaming PCs also come with 4K resolution displays with Wide Viewing Angle technology, Nahimic Audio Enhancer technology for virtual surround sound and more, Killer Game Networking, Super RAID 4 functionality, and more.
