mophie wants you to #staypowerful

Have you heard of nomophobia? Simply put, it’s a feeling of anxiety that you get when your phone isn’t with you and, as Piercarlo Valedsolo wrote in Scientific American, it’s also “the degree to which we depend on phones to complete basic tasks and to fulfill important needs such as learning, safety, and staying connected to information and to others. If you want it in simpler terms: it’s no-mobile-phone-phobia.

And if just for a moment you’ve felt this, then you know it’s a real thing. But your phone can’t always be with you or be useful to you, especially with a lot of them draining your batteries at lightning speed. (Just imagine when Pokémon Go lands here.) But we’re past the age of looking for sockets to power our devices. What we often rely on now are external batteries or “power banks” as they’re known. And that’s where mophie’s business is.

This California-based company started out and is known for its battery cases. They proudly claim to have made the first mobile battery case certified by Apple. There products are also available in Apple Stores the world over and they’re said to be the only power manufacturer there.

And now through Beyond The Box and Digital Walker stores initially, mophie products will be made available to the Filipino consumers. Gadget and lifestyle product distributor Digits Trading Corporation are the ones bringing in these battery cases and powerstations to those stores but also to other retailers in the future.

Which mophie products should you expect to see? We do a quick rundown below.

It has 2.1A high-current charging to quickly charge your devices, an LED power indicator to let you know how much battery you have left, and USB charge port with accompanying microUSB cable to let you charge your device and the battery pack. And by device we aren’t just limiting these to your smartphones, any of your devices with microUSB ports can be charged with this, including tablets, cameras, and other wearables. If you need something bigger than that, there’s the powerstation line. Worthy mentions for this line include the 5X and 8X, which carry 10,000mAh and 15,000mAh batteries, respectively. But they don’t sacrifice thinness for these, making them easy to slip into your laptop bag and help you get power for up to eight times the battery of your device. It has two charge ports so you can charge two devices at once and it has a 15W quick charge input and output to speed up those charging times. And if you have the mophie Power app, which is available on both iOS and Android, you can monitor the battery life of the powerstation from your phone as well as things like how long it’ll take to charge the accessory. The 5X retails for P6,53, while the 8X goes for P7,350.
