Visitors expecting the reveal of a next-generation Montero Sport at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) may be surprised to find a different model taking center stage at the Mitsubishi’s booth. What they’ll see is the second-generation Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
While the electrified SUV is not yet available for purchase, Mitsubishi used the event to showcase a more capable and refined iteration of the Outlander.

The new Outlander PHEV features a 22.7-kWh battery paired with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, delivering a combined output of around 300 PS. An all-wheel-drive system further enhances its capability, allowing it to tackle both urban roads and more demanding terrain.


Inside, the Outlander adopts a modern cabin layout similar to other recent Mitsubishi models, including the Xforce. The interior is highlighted by bright trim finishes, a fully digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment display, and a conventional gear shifter.
MMPC has yet to announce pricing for the Outlander PHEV, although the company confirmed that the model is scheduled to arrive in local showrooms in August.
Sharing the spotlight at the booth is the new Xforce GLX, which now serves as the entry-level variant of Mitsubishi’s compact crossover. Priced at PHP 1,119,000, the GLX aims to make the Xforce more accessible to Filipino buyers through a more affordable package.

To achieve its lower price point, the Xforce GLX omits several features found in higher trims. It comes with smaller alloy wheels and does away with the front fog lamps, although it retains the model’s distinctive headlamp design.

The cabin also receives several revisions. Leather upholstery and soft-touch materials have been replaced with more basic trim pieces, while the digital instrument display gives way to an analog gauge cluster. The GLX also features a conventional air-conditioning system and a four-speaker audio setup in place of the Yamaha premium sound system.
Beyond the vehicle displays, MMPC has prepared a range of interactive activities, daily programs, and special performances from popular performers and influencers throughout the duration of the show. The company said additional details regarding its event schedule and booth activities will be announced through its official social media channels.
