May Street Meet 2017 is fitness first festivity

Looking for a fun family experience? Check. Aiming for fitness? We got you. Wanting to escape the hustle without leaving the Metro? Look no further! This year’s Street Meet merges all three right in the heart of Makati for fun, convenience, and fitness. Here’s what hooked us during our visit:

Darla, let’s go Zumba—and more!

Burn those calories through your choice of exercise in the Ayala Triangle Gardens courtyard: classic Zumba, synth-filled Retro Fitness, or the ultimate Pound workout. The latter is sure to wear your baby fats off with its intensive mix of yoga- and pilates-inspired cardio, conditioning, and strength training. Oh, and did we mention the lightly weighted drumsticks? Super cool!

Let the finds find you

In partnership with Karl Edwards, one of the biggest bazaar organizers in the country, the Central Business District teems with finds of all sorts for your fixes: paper crafts, clothing, shoes and bags, and even activities such as tarot reading!

You’re sure to snag a few pasalubong, too, with an assortment of flavored salts (I personally prefer the Red Wine and Balsamic Vinegar flavor), dips, salad dressings (ah, vinaigrette!), and more.

Street food is good

You’ll ditch that “but street food is dirty!” mindset sooner that you could gobble a plate or two of mouthwatering bagnet! Mercato Central Group and the Food Truck Association of the Philippines litter the stretch of Paseo de Roxas to give you one-of-a-kind samples: deep-fried oreos, cookies, a motley of gelatos, horchatas and its creamy kind, tacos, empanadas, pizzas, and homemade favorites such as kare-kare and curry!

A night to remember

Of course, the entire assemblage wouldn’t be complete without the evening jam! The Project and DJ Jazz Zamora light up the night with feverish music that’s sure to cap the Street Meet on a high note.

The Street Meet follows its 2016 success and becomes a regular activity every last Sunday of the month as part of the city’s “Make It Happen, Make It Makati” thrust. That means, folks, that if you missed this month’s festivity, be sure to book next month’s last Sunday for your family or friends’ hangout!
