Keep track of more things with AirTags

Apart from third-party manufacturers now able to integrate their products into the Find My app, users can now also use the app to find their most important belongings. Apple just introduced the AirTags, a simple add-on device to your bag, keys, or your kid’s stroller if you want to. Measuring 1.26-inches in diameter and weighing only 11 grams, it’s just another keychain – only smarter.

The AirTag connects to your iPhone and then you can register it in the Find My app where you can assign it a name. Once there, it will keep track of your tag so that whenever you lose that thing it’s attached to, there’s a great chance for you to find where it is. If your iPhone detects that it’s within range, it will make the AirTag play a sound to find it easier.

If lost, you can put that tag in Lost Mode. Doing so will make the app notify you instead when the item is within range and at the same time, it makes use of the Find My network that makes use of other iPhones. If someone else detects your item, you’ll be notified of it and the other person can use their phone and see your contact number if you put one when you registered it.

The Apple AirTag is made of stainless steel that’s IP67 water and dust resistant. It has a small speaker to the sound, and the CR2032 battery at the back that can be easily replaced, which is rated to last a year. It makes use of a U1 chip with Ultra Wideband technology that makes use of the iPhone 11 and 12’s camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope to guide the user to their lost item if it’s within range.

The AirTags will cost P1,690 for one piece, and P,5790 for the four-piece pack. It will be launched at the end of the month in the US, so it may come to local retailers here a month or two after that.
