Trailer

iQiyi’s highly-anticipated first Southeast Asian Original and exclusive series “The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang,” co-produced with GHY Culture and Media (The Little Nyonya), features a star-studded Singaporean and Malaysian cast including iQiyi International VIP Ambassador Lawrence Wong, Qi Yu Wu, Tay Ping Hui and Jeanette Aw, and will premiere with 4 episodes on the iQiyi International app and iQ.com on August 24.

Take a peek into the underworld through the “Yin Yang eyes” of protagonist Xia Dong Qing (Lawrence Wong) as he, along with his trusty and suave partner Zhao Li (Qi Yu Wu), communicate with and help distressed, wandering souls in the mortal world with their unfinished business.

Looking to earn some extra allowance as he prepares for his postgraduate exams, Dong Qing starts working as a part-time assistant at No. 444 convenience store, not knowing that the store is actually the nexus between two realms— the mortal realm and the spiritual one, where deceased souls pass through upon death. Concurrently, he discovers that his special ability was bestowed upon him by Zhao Li, a grim reaper patrolling the mortal world with a hidden agenda.

The series, featuring scenes in juxtaposing timelines, new ghosts and spirits from a range of folklore and myths in every episode— including the ghost bride, the beauty-obsessed and power-hungry nine-tailed fox and two-horned devil (Tay Ping Hui)— will keep viewers on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds in unexpected ways.

iQiyi International’s VIP subscribers in both Standard and Premium tiers with compatible devices will also be able to revel in an unparalleled audio experience, with “The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang” being first Original title to be available in Dolby Atmos— immersive sound that takes the viewer right into the heart of the action with breathtaking realism. Also available in 4K, the high production quality of the show underscores iQiyi’s dedication on bringing Asian creators’ visions to life.

Starting from August 24, viewers can watch the 36-episode series on iQiyi International app and iQ.com, with new episodes premiering every Tuesday and Friday at 8pm SGT.
