Introducing the Oris Aquis Date Upcycle

With the news that Oris is officially climate neutral (independently certified by ClimatePartner), the Swiss watchmakers have decided to commemorate the occasion with an environmentally friendly timepiece. The watch for this milestone moment in Oris’ history is the Aquis Date Upcycle.

True to its name, the Aquis Date Upcycle features watches with distinctive unique dials made of recycled PET plastic. Along with symbolizing Oris’ mission to bring about “Change for the Better”, the watch highlights how recycled plastic can be repurposed to art. The PET plastic recycling process creates an array of unique colors and textures so that no two Aquis Date Upcycle dials will be the same.

In terms of technical specs, the Aquis Date Upcycle is available in either a 41.5 mm or 36.5 mm case. In reassuring news for those interested in this one-of-a-kind timepiece, Oris is not limiting either size. They have stated that they’ll “keep making them for as long as there’s demand. Our hope is that our customers will choose Aquis Date Upcycle and join us in making a daily commitment to reducing the world’s ocean plastic crisis”.

In terms of craftsmanship, the Aquis Date Upcycle watches share architectural cues with the iconic Aquis Date 41.5 mm and 36.5 mm models. Both watches contain a stainless steel case and a uni-directional rotating diver’s bezel with a scratch-resistant grey ceramic insert. Furthermore, the Aquis Date Upcycle watches have a stainless steel bracelet with a clasp extension system, crown protectors, a screw-down crown and a Swiss-Made Oris 733 mechanical movement. This automatic winding date watch has a power reserve of 38 hours.

The Aquis Date Upcycle is available today. Follow the link here for more details on how to purchase this timepiece, and to take part in Oris’ mission to bring about Change for the Better.
