IFA Roundup: ASUS’ PC on a stick

ASUS had a hefty amount of announcements and unveilings at IFA. While some announcements involved earlier released products becoming available in more territories, other announcements featured completely new and in some cases unique products.

ROG Gaming Laptops

One of the company’s most exciting announcements and definitely one of the best products announced at IFA 2015 is their new ROG GX700 gaming laptop, the world’s first water-cooled laptop which features an external dock with its own radiator and water pump. According to ASUS, attaching the laptop to the water-cooling dock increase its performance by up to 80%. The GX700 is also the first 17-inch gaming laptop equipped with a 4K resolution display panel.

Not much else is known about the GX700 as ASUS did not divulge many of its details and specifications but rumors state that the new and unique laptop may be priced at around $4000 and come equipped with NVIDIA’s upcoming GTX 990M mobile graphics solution which, according to NVIDIA, performs as well as the company’s desktop GTX 980 Ti graphics card. As for when we’ll see the GX700 on store shelves, we’ll have to wait until ASUS announces more information.

In the meantime, fans can take a look at the other gaming laptop ASUS unveiled at IFA, the ROG G752 gaming laptop. It features a 17.3-inch display which will be available in either 4K or 1080p resolutions, either a 6th generation Core i7-6700HQ or Core i7-6700HK processor, an NVIDIA GTX 980M graphics chip, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB HDD and SSD storage, and Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C ports.

The ASUS ROG G752 will be available in three color options – plasma copper, armor titanium, and lava red – with prices starting at $1,499 for the base model.

Zen AiO S Desktop PC

Those looking for a new ASUS all-in-one desktop solution can check out their newly unveiled Zen AiO S desktop PC which comes in either 21.5-inch or 23.8-inch screen models with display panel resolutions of up to 4K. The Zen AiO S is powered by up to a Core i7 processor, up to an NVIDIA GeForce graphics chip, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to either a 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD. It’s also equipped with two USB Type-C connectors, six speakers, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Intel’s new RealSense 3D camera, and will come with Windows 10 pre-installed.

ASUS hasn’t announced when the Zen AiO S will be available but the company did reveal that prices for the new all-in-one PC will start at 800 Euros for the 21.5-inch variant while prices for the larger 23.8-inch model begin at 1,100 Euros.

Vivostick PC

Lastly, ASUS also unveiled its own version of Intel’s Compute Stick simply called the VivoStick. With prices starting at $129, the VivoStick is a full-fledged PC in a small HDMI stick. It runs Windows 10 and is powered by an Intel Cherry Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal flash storage. It also features one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity. Like the Zen AiO S, ASUS has yet to announce when the VivoStick will be available.
