IFA 2016: LG intros new curved, gaming monitors

0

The South Korean manufacturer did not have a lot of goodies to show during IFA 2016, and with good reason: the LG V20 flagship had its own announcement event elsewhere (in San Francisco, to be exact) and LG usually reserves its IFA participation for product announcements. Among these were the availability of its appliances in Europe: its 77-inch OLED TV, smart washing machine, refrigerator, and other smart devices. The brand did, however, unveil two new displays.

LG 34UC79G

Part one of LG’s new 21:9 curved-screen monitors for desktops is the LG 34UC79G, a montior primarily for gamers who want to get that leg up in their matches. It has what LG described as “blindingly fast” refresh rate with one millisecond motion blur reduction. The 34-inch display also comes with Black Stabilizer tech that allows you to see better in dark areas during your gaming and it also allows for a static crosshair on the screen when you are playing selected games (like FPS games).

Built for designers, the LG 38UC99 is also a curved monitor which boasts a 99% sRGB spectrum color gamut range, a USB Type-C port and two 10W speakers. The 38-inch Ultra Wide monitor has a higher-than-4K resolution of 3840×1600.

Both monitors still don’t have actual international release dates nor prices, but like many of the launches at IFA, expect these wide and curved displays to land on our shores (if they ever do make it) by the middle of 2017.
