Get to know the smart Huawei Vision S Series

Ever since we’ve been forced to stay home due to the ongoing pandemic, most people have discovered new things trying to remain occupied and productive. However, we still really can’t avoid down time — which led us to subscribing to different streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+, Hayu, and a whole lot more.

Luckily, Huawei has launched one of their latest innovations — the Huawei Vision S Series. Huawei claims this as a Future TV because of the new and unique features they have incorporated, making this device go beyond a typical smart TV.

Streamlined Design

The Vision S comes in a sleek, minimalist form with a FullView display design. It features a 95% screen-to-body ratio with a three-sided boundless design for a better viewing experience. The rear cover features smooth contours and parallel lines, resulting in a cleanly crafted look. The front-facing design incorporates an Ice Skating-shaped Metal Base, which gives the appearance of a light-on-its-feet display.

Smart Camera

One of the most impressive and innovative features of the Vision S is the 13MP magnetic camera that sits atop the screen. It supports a 1920×1080 resolution to enjoy video calls on the bigger screen below. The magnetic design also makes it more convenient to detach and attach. It’s even easily adjustable to enable users to get their preferred angle.

This camera makes use of the MeeTime video call app from Huawei which is also accessible on other Android devices.

A Functional Display for Easy Navigation

The Vision S adopts a magazine-like home page design that is elegant and informative at a mere glimpse. Swipe right to reach the leftmost screen, where you can find a broad array of service cards such as song playlists, recently viewed content, curated recommendations, and much more.

The Vision S comes equipped with a 120Hz display to provide users with a new level of immersive viewing. From fight scenes in movies, fast-paced action in games, to shots on goal in a sporting match, everything is rendered more smoothly and with optimal stability thanks to Huawei’s smart MEMC (motion estimation and motion compensation). Viewing is further enhanced by the Honghu cinema-quality chipset which incorporates a unique HarmonyOS image engine.

Finely-tuned graphics processing technology utilizes a super-resolution algorithm to improve low-resolution video display, for enhanced viewing on a 4K screen. Dynamic contrast enhancement technology incorporates intelligent analysis on both the global and pixel levels for optimal brightness distribution at all times, with adjustments to brightness and color contrasts to ensure superior imaging quality.

The Vision S also incorporates Stunning Color technology for a DCI-P3 color gamut of 92%, to make reds, greens and blues richer and brighter. It also uncannily recreates accurate color restoration for film, producing true-to-life viewing that’s faithful to the content creator’s original vision. Huawei calibrates the gamma and white balance on a device-by-device basis, in order to ensure consistently excellent imaging quality on each vision model.

Dual TUV Rheinland Eye Care Certifications: Healthy, Wholesome Viewing

With the amount of time users spend in front of a screen, long-term vision damage is a major concern. Luckily, the Vision S displays treat eye-comfort as a matter of the utmost priority, having obtained both TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and TÜV Rheinland Flicker-free eye care certifications. It applies stroboscopic technology to successfully alleviate eye fatigue.

An Immersive Audio Experience

The Huawei Vision S features four 10W horn speakers, including two 10 full-frequency speakers, and two 10W high-frequency speakers. Huawei’s proprietary horn speaker design ensures a wide frequency response, and faithfully reproduces sounds across the spectrum. The horn speakers also render high frequency sounds and voices with greater clarity. A massive 1L sound cavity gives audio a gentler edge, while ramping up the authority of bass sounds.

Another smart feature the Vision S offers is its intelligent audio-visual mode. Vision S series devices detect broadcasted content on an intelligent basis, and then tailor it to produce the optimal audiovisual experience, providing exhilarating home entertainment in the process. For example, when a movie is playing, the sound and graphics automatically switch over to Cinema mode.

The interaction between first-rate hardware and the latest audio processing algorithm results in cutting-edge sound enhancement technology. Combined with psychoacoustic and auditory perception models, the Vision S can fine-tune audio performance for virtually all scenarios.

Harmony OS: Intelligence You Can Trust

The all-new HarmonyOS operating system makes the Vision S capable of connecting with phones to offer the best of both worlds: easy viewing alongside nimble smartphone functionality.

OneHop Projection: Splendor on a Grander Scale

The Huawei Vision touch remote control includes a built-in NFC tag, which means that it doesn’t need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network or be manually paired. Instead, Huawei phones can quickly project audio and video content to the big screen with just the press of a button. Regardless of whether it’s a short video, news program, or movie, you can send it over to your Vision S with a single tap for hassle-free viewing on a whole new scale.

Mirror Control: A Big Screen That’s as Agile as a Smartphone

Mirror Control with a smartphone endows the display with smartphone functionality, allowing it to operate as a touchscreen. The Vision S can mirror the phone screen completely, with touchscreen attributes to fully reproduce a handheld experience.

Distributed Gaming with a Phone-turned-Gamepad

Playing a game on the big screen is naturally much more thrilling. Fortunately, the distributed technology in HarmonyOS that’s built into Huawei Vision S devices makes it easier than ever to play mobile games on an expansive display. By installing and running games directly on your Huawei Vision S and establishing a connection with your phone, you’ll be able to use your phone as an intuitive gamepad. For certain games, notably sports games which require gravity sensors or gyroscopes, the system will automatically call the gravity sensor or gyroscope from your phone via distributed capabilities to control the action.

Compared with traditional mobile game projection solutions, HarmonyOS distributed gaming offers clearer graphics with a lower latency. Distributed capabilities are also able to utilize the various phone sensors to achieve a next-level gaming experience. HarmonyOS distributed gaming currently supports a number of mainstream smartphone brands, and can take effect as soon as the Huawei Home Vision app is installed.

Verdict

Huawei has definitely paid attention to details that they could improve upon from their previous smart TV’s, namely: a fuller and more immersive display and sound, a camera to enjoy video calls on a larger screen or to simply take pictures, and all the innovative smart functionality that goes along with the aforementioned via the touch remote or even your own smartphone. All of these features definitely up the ante for Smart TVs and Android TVs currently on the market. One drawback is the Series S doesn’t yet have Google PlayStore so you still can’t download some apps you may be accustomed to. However, a simple TV stick or smart box would easily do the trick — the latter comes free if you preorder any of the Vision S Series.

The Huawei Vision S Series 55-inch is priced at PHP36,999 and PHP56,999 for the 65-inch version. Both models are available for pre-order bonuses which will net you a FREE Microphone, Smart Box, Huawei Video Unlimited Pass and PHP1,000 voucher. On top of all that, Huawei is also offering a PHP4,000 discount until May 31, 2021 if you pre-order on the Huawei Store.
