Geely goes big with the 7-seater Okavango crossover

Coming off the phenomenal success of its pioneering foray into the Philippine automotive market with the compact Coolray crossover and hot on the heels of the recently launched premium Azkarra (which comes in a mild hybrid variant), Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) is bringing in a “Wonderfully Distinct” vehicle that will make its mark in yet another key segment in the local market and bring the Geely brand even further upmarket, a 7-seater crossover in the Geely Okavango.

The name Okavango was derived from the vast inland delta in northwestern Botswana, the Okavango Delta. In 2014, UNESCO has recognized the Okavango Delta as its 1,000th World Heritage Site. It was also declared as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Africa.

The Geely Okavango is the coming together of the best features of an SUV and an MPV into a single 7-seater crossover. SGAP President & CEO Mikihisa Takayama said, “The Okavango is definitely a game-changer for both the SUV and MPV segments – exquisite and well thought off in terms of design, space, and technology.”

“We are definitely giving our customers a luxurious, uncompromising, and “Wonderfully Distinct” ride,” Takayama added. The Geely Okavango will set it apart from current models in these segments as it will boast of the following:

Versatile cabin

Its commodious interior space has a total of 19 seating configurations with 42 storage nooks and compartments, including a double-layer console. Adults can seat comfortably in all three rows.

Advanced technology

It has a three-zone air conditioning that will give passengers independent AC controls for the driver, front passenger, and rear passenger seats, 360-degree panoramic camera with a best-in-class guidance system and dynamic auxiliary lines. It also has 3 driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Efficient power

The Okavango is equipped with a 1.5L turbo gasoline engine that was jointly developed by Geely and Volvo and which is perfectly matched to a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch transmission. It also has a Dual Variable-Valve Timing (DVVT) for a perfect balance of power and fuel efficiency. And thanks to the 48V-EMS, the Okavango boasts of a maximum power of 190 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.

Advanced safety

The Okavango is equipped with 6 SRS airbags, overspeed warning, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, central locking with speed-sensing auto lock, and Hill Descent Control.

Upscale design

From its muscular aesthetic design, the aerodynamic streamlining on the exterior, to the modern, wide, and comfortable interior, the Okavango was built for a first-class and uncompromising experience.

SGAP will start pre-sales of the Geely Okavango from October 17. And as an incentive for those who will reserve early, significant savings of as much as P90,000 will be provided. On top of this pre-order savings, SGAP will also pour in a worry-free ownership with a 3-year periodic maintenance package which includes oil, parts and labor only to those who will reserve and purchase during the pre-selling period.

You may contact your nearest Geely dealerships to ask about how to pre-order the Geely Okavango.
