Florsheim goes back to basics with newest classic collection

Florsheim has been a name in the shoe industry since the close of the 19th century. That’s more than a hundred years of making quality shoes. If you’re talking about Throwback Thursday, call Florsheim one of the worthy ones. Their current campaign is returning to the classics with popular and classy products like the Royal Imperial. #tbt

The Royal Imperial

Established in 1892, Florsheim has built its heritage based on designing sophisticated, elegant, and contemporary shoes that cater to all walks of life. They offer contemporary designs reinforced with traditional and proven materials like leather. Throughout the century and two decades of its existence, Florsheim has spread globally with Nepal as the latest addition to its ranks. Popular products include the Royal Imperial, Imperial, Florsheim Regular, Comfortech, and Sports/Casual. This new campaign sees a return to the tried-and-tested formula that made Florsheim the great company that it is today.

Besides taking a step backward, Florsheim is also going forward. In line with this new campaign, the shoe brand has recently opened its tenth store in the Philippines and seventh in the Metro. This new store is located on the second floor of the also newly-opened Ayala Fairview Terraces. Mr. Richard Leung, Florsheim’s general manager for Asia and the Pacific, joined us for the launch of this new store.

He explained how Florsheim made it as a global brand and why Florsheim shoes are the most reliable when talking about comfort and sturdiness. Several products were displayed at the launch—the Wingtips, the Loafers, the Boots, and the Wedges.

Nothing gets more classic than the Royal Imperial wingtips. They’re perfect dress shoes for stylishness in any formal occasion. They’re also well-made and reliable. The Royal Imperial uses soft but sturdy calfskin leather. The inside is also fully leather. Besides a small portion of the heel, the sole and insole is solely (pardon the pun) made out of leather. Basically, it’s almost purely made out of leather. But don’t worry about creasing. A pair is flexible enough to withstand being folded, as Leung himself demonstrated.

The Loafers and the Boots are more for comfort, but they are also made out of a reliable type of leather, pigskin. Whereas the Royal Imperials are mostly made out of leather, Florsheim boots and loafers have an even distribution between leather and rubber, offering the fashion of leather and the free-spirited youth of rubber.

The Wedges give a glimpse into the female segment that Florsheim wants to focus on. Leung sees that female shoe fashion will continue to focus on the man shoe and ankle bootie, with the gradual reintroduction of flats into fashion. As for male trends, Leung sees a rounder toe shape coming into fashion as opposed to the pointed tips of a few years ago. He sees the Asian market as an important group to tap for fashion. He remains confident that Florsheim will be able to maintain its foothold in the Asia-Pacific, as well as the world.

In the Philippines, Florsheim and its newest collection inspired by classic styles can be found in their stores in Trinoma, Shangri-La Plaza, Glorietta 4, SM Mall of Asia, Festival Mall Alabang, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Fairview Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu, Abreeza Mall Davao, and SM City Davao.
