The newest Huawei MatePad is an impressively sized yet slim-in-profile tablet. It comes in a Midnight Grey colourway that is simultaneously bold and classic in style. It is exceptionally lightweight and handles well with its Micro-arc middle frame and grip. It features an 84% screen-to-body ratio made possible by super tapered bezels that measure just 7.9mm. It can achieve a resolution of up to 2000×1200 in Full HD+.
In keeping with its slim build, the MatePad’s sound system is integrated into the body through a quad-channel speaker system. Sound is delivered in partnership with Harman Kardon, who provide immersive and deep audio with the tablet’s Histen 6.0 3D stereo.
Internally, the Huawei MatePad contains a powerful 7nm Kirin 810 CPU. The chipset is an octa-core CPU with two high performance A76 cores and six A55 efficiency cores. It runs at a base clock speed of 2.27GHz to ensure performance even with the most intensive tasks. The custom Mali-G52 GPU works in tandem with the CPU to provide smooth gaming and quick app launches and switching.
Powering all this hardware is a large 7,250mAh battery that can support up to 12 hours of 1080p video playing or general Internet browsing. The battery is compatible with a 10W charge, giving it a total of 3.8 hours for a full charge.
The amount of Smart Interactive features on the Huawei MatePad are endless. Some of the main features include Multi-Screen Collaboration for cross-device navigation and data transfer, App Multiplier for multi-tasking within the same app using two independently operable windows (such as having contacts in one window and active conversations in the other) and Multi-Window for multi-tasking between different apps (such as internet research in one window and a word processor in the other). Lastly, Huawei MeeTime allows native chat functionality between Huawei devices, such as 1080p video calls.
For students, the Huawei MatePad also supports your learning when you are outside of the classroom. eBook mode adjusts the tablet’s contrast, brightness and definition to provide a pleasant reading experience with increased eye protection. Other eye and general safety features include Eye Comfort mode, blue light filter, posture alerts, brightness alerts, distance alerts and bumpy road alerts.
When making video calls or conferences, the tablet’s quad-microphones will isolate external noise from your speaking voice to ensure clarity and clearness. The 8MP wide-angle front camera also assists during video conferencing, as it detects you within the frame and makes optimizations automatically. It does this through Smart View which can trace objects and crop/resize them with regard to the other subjects on screen (up to 10 subjects at once), Spotlight Mode which tracks and highlights your motion at the raise of a hand, and Camera Gestures such as panning the camera through a grab gesture that eventually reverts to its original positioning when you release your grip.
With the Huawei MatePad, users can enjoy apps that come with rewards and points when they download from the AppGallery. The MatePad also features the new Petal Search which is a gateway to a million apps. This allows the user to install not only, from AppGallery but also from official and third-party websites.
