First impressions of the T1 5G: vivo's

Last May, vivo launched their much-anticipated and fastest 5G midrange smartphone lineup, the vivo T Series, catered to one’s gaming and digital lifestyle needs. Consisting of the T1 5G and the T1x, both devices are equipped with powerful processors that ultimately offer users turbo-driven performance, whether gaming on high speeds or continuously browsing through social media.

Dubbed as vivo’s best gaming phone and midrange camera powerhouse, I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to test out the T1 5G and truly experience its capabilities. Before delving into all the nitty gritty stuff, here are my first impressions of the T1 5G upon my unboxing of vivo’s latest smartphone.

Design:

Coming in two solid-colored designs– Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan –the T1 5G is coated in 3D plastic material which doesn’t necessarily give off a premium feel, but does add a lot of character and style to it, nonetheless.

Its front has a very clean and simple look to it, with its punch-hole type front camera centered atop the screen, while all of the buttons are located on its right side.

Aware that the T1 5G sports an AI Triple Camera setup, I was intrigued by what I initially thought were just 2 main cameras. However, upon further inspection, the top circle houses its 64MP main camera, while the lower circle houses both its 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras.

Moreover, one aspect worth noting is that the platform these cameras are placed on barely protrudes from its rear, making the T1 5G’s backside seemingly completely flat.

On a side note, as well, I noticed that the smartphone is quite light weight. Pairing this with its thin and flat figure, the vivo T1 5G has a nice and smooth feel whether held in hand, kept inside your pocket or inside your bag.

Display:

My first impressions of the smartphone’s display was that it was both tall and slim, as its height seemed taller and its width smaller than that of fellow smartphones, though not by a drastic amount.

Its 6.44-inch, 2404×1080 FHD+ AMOLED display are definitely great dimensions, especially for a device aimed to give its users an experience beyond the gaming and entertainment scenes.

Putting together the T1 5G’s smooth feel on hand, light weight and large display, you can tell vivo really put emphasis on making sure its users have quite the immersive experience, whether playing intense online games, streaming your favorite TV series, or simply scrolling through TikTok all day.

Battery:

To support the immersive gaming and entertainment experience, vivo has equipped the T1 5G with a capable battery, with respectable capacities of 4700mAh. Furthermore, a 66W FlashCharge is paired with the large battery that can impressively charge up to half of its total capacity in a mere 18 minutes, allowing you to enjoy more time on your device and less time worrying about the T1 5G dying on you.

Performance:

As previously mentioned, vivo dubbed the T1 5G as its best gaming phone which can be attributed to its Snapdragon 778G 5G processor, which happens to be the fastest among its peers, as well. Not only does this facilitate a smooth experience for gaming and/or multitasking, but can also offer a more interactive experience with various features, such as Ultra Game Mode, Multi Turbo 5.0, z-axis linear motor and 4D game vibration.

Running on vivo’s Funtouch OS 12, the T1 5G has 8GB+4GB Extended RAM, as well as 128GB of storage.

Camera:

Along with vivo dubbing this device as an exceptional gaming phone, they have also equipped it with the necessary tools to label it as a camera powerhouse, as well. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone sports an AI Triple Camera setup which consists of a 64MP (f/1.79) main camera, an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, 2MP (f/2.4) macro camera, and a 16MP (f/2.0) front camera.

Not only are all of these cameras very capable in their own right, but vivo has added a number of features to further enhance the user’s photography experience; Night mode, portrait, slow-mo, time-lapse, dual view and being able to support 4K video recording are just some of the noteworthy aspects included by vivo.

Main takeaways:

Headlined by a very powerful processor and an expressive camera, the vivo T1 5G is quite the intriguing device, especially being dubbed as their best gaming phone with an excellent camera. With a price tag of P16,999, it’s no wonder why vivo’s latest device has got many buzzing.

Stay tuned for the full, in-depth review of the T1 5G to be released this following week.
