First Impressions: HONOR 90 Lite 5G

Following the success of the HONOR 90 5G, the tech brand saw this as a golden opportunity to introduce three more smartphones including the HONOR 90 Lite 5G, X6a, and X5 Plus. All are expected to come with budget-friendly price tags that will be revealed on September 26.

This article will highlight the HONOR 90 Lite 5G. If it’s anything like its non-lite version, then we can already anticipate great things from it.

Design and build

The rear aesthetics has HONOR written all over it. Not quite literally, though. You’ll know it’s HONOR when the camera layout on its own makes the smartphone stand out; it features a dual ring design, which is an N series staple. However, this unique layout might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Another HONOR staple are the color options. Of course they have minimalist, classy, and vibrant options. The device I’m reviewing is the Cyan Blue. If you prefer designs that aren’t loud, then the Midnight Black colorway is the one for you. Exuding elegance is the Titanium Silver colorway for those who want something in between.

The build feels light and slim; it weighs 179g and measures 7.48mm. It’s also easier to grip since it has a boxy frame.

Display

Up front you’ll receive a vibrant greeting from the 6.7-inch LTPS LCD display with 1080 x 2388 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. My brief encounter tells me it’s going to be a superb treat for series-bingers ang gamers. The experience was further elevated by the slim bezels since the HONOR 90 Lite comes with a 93.6% screen-to-body ratio.

To complete the package, the device is equipped with features that’ll prevent eye fatigue. More on this in our full review.

Camera

Since the HONOR 90 5G significantly impressed me in the camera department, I have high hopes that this Lite version won’t fall far from the tree. I’m excited to put the 100MP triple camera system (100MP main camera, 5MP wide and depth camera, and 2MP macro camera) to the test.

As for creators who love taking selfies, they may take advantage of the 16MP selfie shooter that this smartphone came with.

Performance

Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 6020. So far it has been smooth sailing while running multiple tabs to set up my phone and download a few apps. But we’ll take a closer look if it can handle heavier loads with the same enthusiasm.

If the price is right, the combination of the 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM will be more than appealing to me. Besides, that’s already a generous offer if it’s to be the more affordable version of the HONOR 90 5G.

Battery

Most of us live on the go and prefer to pack light so it pays off when your smartphone is packed with a hefty battery life. Thankfully, the HONOR 90 Lite boasts a 4500mAh battery that the tech brand claims could last up to 2 days.

Initial thoughts

Make no mistake, the HONOR 90 Lite device might have ‘Lite’ in its name, but it’s still heavy on awesome specs. We’ll find out how it’ll fare beyond paper in our full review so stay tuned!
