Fireworks on the 4th of July—Chevrolet launches the stunning all-new Trax

Talk about a transformation—the diminutive and cutesy Chevrolet Trax took a brief respite and has come back fully revitalized and sporting a substantially larger and sexier sheet metal. It’s wimpy Steve Rogers getting the Captain America serum all over again. And it all happens on the 4th of July—a most momentous date for a quintessentially American brand.

The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the official exclusive Chevrolet distributor has officially launched the new-generation 2024 Trax – the latest crossover SUV that’s built bigger and bolder for customers who seek the practicality and easy-to-drive qualities of a compact car with the space and utility of an SUV—now with bigger dimensions, improved versatility and more comfort, convenience and safety features.

“The Philippines is the first country in Southeast Asia to launch the 2024 Trax, and we are proud to include this new generation crossover SUV in our local lineup of exciting Chevrolet vehicles,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of TCCCI-Chevrolet Philippines. “The new Trax is bigger, bolder, more refined, and features Chevrolet’s revolutionary design philosophy and pioneering technologies, setting a new standard for crossovers in the country. The 2024 Trax is the first among several Chevrolet automobiles that TCCCI-Chevrolet Philippines has in store for the Filipino market, and it ushers in a new wave of modern Chevy models which are sure to be compelling choices for new car buyers because of their advanced technologies, stylish designs, and overall brand pedigree.”

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is manufactured at the General Motors (GM) plant in South Korea. Built on GM’s global platform, it employs Chevrolet’s modern design language and cutting-edge technology that would certainly stand out in the fast-growing segment of crossovers in the country. The new Trax comes in three variants: LT, Redline and RS.

“The New Generation Trax is a global model that embodies the Spirit of Chevrolet, representing our brand’s objective to provide exceptional vehicles around the world,” says  Ernesto Ortiz, President and Managing Director of General Motors’ Strategic Markets, Alliances and Distributors. “We are confident that this model will make great strides in the Philippines, in the same way it has in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South Korea. We look forward to seeing the success of the Trax in collaboration with TCCCI, who has been our trusted partner for Chevrolet in the Philippines for almost 14 years.”

All-new drivetrain and chassis

All-new under the hood as well, the Trax is powered by a delightfully energetic lightweight, direct-injection, 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged DOHC-VVT engine that delivers 137 hp and 220 Nm of torque and is matched with a responsive smooth-shifting 6-speed torque converter-type automatic transmission—the exact same engine used in the US-version Trax. The turbo boosts the Trax’s torque for effortless passing maneuvers and on-ramp acceleration.

The body structure of the Trax employs GM’s latest Smart Engineering design system which intuitively promotes weight reduction and reinforcement to load-bearing parts. This contributes substantially to the outstanding driving performance, stability, comfort and fuel economy of the vehicle.

Head-turning styling

Easily the biggest departure from the previous Trax is the new model’s eye-catching appearance, with its sleek and sporty styling and substantially larger dimensions. Compared to its predecessor, this second generation has a longer, lower and wider body, giving it the head-turning athletic stance of a true performance vehicle.

Up front, a bold blacked-out grille with the Chevy-signature high-eye LED daytime running lamps, LED headlamps, and Chevy bowtie at the center give the Trax an aggressive and menacing look. The sleek side profile is characterized by the dynamic wheel design, refined body contours and horizontal lines that are sweptback to the sloping roofline. The rear of the Trax also mirrors the snazzy look upfront with its lifted hatchback shape, rear spoiler with integrated LED high-mount stop lamp and prominent LED taillights.

The Trax reflects a diverse personality for each trim with specific design cues on the exterior:

  • The LT features a neat and straightforward style with a gold Chevy bowtie, black front grille with chrome accent, silver bumper chin and rear bumper garnish, and 17” machined alloy wheels
  • The Redline showcases a more gritty look stimulated by striking red accents on the gloss black grille, gloss black bumper chin and rear bumper garnish, gloss black side mirrors, black 18” alloy wheels, black roof rail, black Trax badge and a black Chevy bowtie furnishing
  • The RS presents the most athletic appearance evident in the rally sport style it carries. A black Chevy bowtie and RS badge are situated at the black front grille with titanium chrome accent. The RS is rigged with a unique two-tone 18” machine-faced alloy wheels. The side mirrors, roof panel, roof rail, bumper chin and rear bumper garnish in high gloss black palette add flare to the overall charisma of the vehicle.

Spacious, tech-laden interior

The 2024 Trax offers a more comfortable and composed ride – thanks to the significant increase in vehicle dimensions and cabin roominess. The new-generation Trax is 279 mm longer and 51 mm wider compared to the previous model. The long wheelbase of 2700 mm with a short rear overhang results in generous legroom and cargo space. The interior configuration can also be expanded to accommodate various cargo requirements with its 60:40 split-folding second-row seats, with maximum volume capacity of up to 1,405 liters.

The interior of the Trax is reimagined to create a sense of airiness and improve outward visibility. The dashboard displays a large infotainment system that is slightly angled towards the driver, a low instrument panel for convenient access to information, and round air vents inspired by Chevy performance vehicle design. Large door pockets, first- and second-row cup holders, rear center armrest, and other storage spaces in the center console are also available. Other upgraded amenities and equipment include Smart Key Passive Entry, Cruise Control, Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Auto Hold, reverse camera, rear air vents, and Type A and B USB ports.

Similar to the exterior, each variant presents unique décor and equipment inside:

  • The LT presents a neat Jet Black interior with blue accents. It has black leather-style seats with gray fabric, cool gray door trim accent on the first row, and light-colored roof lining. The dash is equipped with a 3.5” monochrome multi-information cluster, 8” touchscreen infotainment system, and furnished with a patterned silver trim and blue accent on the round vents that cut across the center.
  • The distinct red accents in the Redline are also flaunted in its Jet Black interior. The seats are in two-tone black and cool gray, with 8-way power-adjust for the driver. The driver information center is upgraded to an 8” full digital cluster, with a large 11” touchscreen infotainment system. It’s also equipped with power liftgate with height adjust
  • The top-of-the-line RS exhibits the sportiest Jet Black interior featuring a dark colored roof lining, red RS markings on the dash and gear shifter, black leather-style seats with red stitching, and embroidered RS on the front row headrest. It also has an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, Power Liftgate with Height Adjust, and resembles the Redline with the same 8” HD Digital Cluster and 11” touchscreen infotainment system, with upgrades including a flat-bottom steering wheel, electric sunroof, and wireless charger.
