Dell revamps the XPS 13

Launched in CES last January and then going on to receive the CES 2019 Innovation Honoree title, you’d think Dell’s XPS 13 couldn’t get any better than that. But Dell just launched the newest iteration of the XPS 13 and it’s a laptop of our dreams.

The previous models of the XPS 13 had people raving about it—except for one thing, the positioning of the webcam. Thankfully, Dell put it back on top, while still maintaining that amazingly slim nearly bezel-less display.

The 13-inch laptop is both a thin device and a powerhouse. It runs on the latest quad-core 8th-gen Intel Core processor and it is packed with a tiny yet impressive camera (the technology which Dell says was lifted from those of smartphone cameras). It is also equipped with Dolby Vision, which transforms your entertainment experience by bringing ultra-vivid picture quality partnered with Dell Cinema 2.0, which gives you a full cinematic experience when watching movies and shows (we’ll ignore the 13-inch screen for a while here).

My personal favorite feature is the Dell Mobile Connect (available also in other select models), which is a PC and smartphone integration that allows users to connect and control their smartphones on their PCs. This includes taking calls, replying to SMS, as well as screen mirroring. It doesn’t need an internet connection and it extends to more than just simple processes. Dell intends to take it a step further to extend it to their mobile app and even VR integration.

During CES, a demo showed how easy it is to take calls, read notifications, and perform other tasks all inside the program. It lets users interact with these features while in a VR space, too. The Mobile Connect feature also gives you a 3D model of your device that can be controlled within the PC.

“We pride ourselves in always bringing the latest innovations to consumers and iterating when new advancements are made available,” says Jay Ranola, Dell Philippines’ consumer head. “At Dell we strive to help customers interact with what matters most to them to meet the performance needs of today and tomorrow.”

Dell also prides themselves on customer service, with their premium support services and accidental damage support. This support plan includes virus removal, repairs for accidents, and automated PC health-optimizing scans. Expert help is also available for any technical issues and physical repairs if needed, even during weekends.

For the style mavens, the new XPS 13 will be available in May in a frosty white-on-white design that is très chic. The crowd favorite rose gold on white is still around, while for those who prefer a more classic design, black and silver colors are available as well.

The new XPS 13 (9380) is priced at P100,990 (silver) and P103,490 (gold and white) for 256GB, while for the 512GB version, it is priced at P118,990 (silver) and P121,490 (gold and white). It will be available for purchase in select Dell stores and authorized retailers nationwide.
