Cycling and advocacy groups to unite in a National Bike Ride for freedom

We invite you to join us tomorrow, November 29, 2020 as cycling and advocacy groups — including Bikers United Movement, We The Future PH, DAKILA and Active Vista Center — come together in Trip ni Bonifacio, Ito Ang Gusto Ko!,a National Bike Ride activity to celebrate the freedom Andres Bonifacio fought for during the Spanish Colonization era.

Happening on National Bikers Day and before Bonifacio Day, the event aims to organize creative ways to practice the freedom of expression at a time when civic spaces are shrinking amid a pandemic and threats to our right to speak out.

The Bike Ride will happen simultaneously in three different areas — Metro Manila, Bacolod City, and Tacloban City. The main route in Metro Manila will start in Luneta Park at 6:30 a.m. and will go through the following areas:

  • Roxas Blvd.
  • P. Burgos Ave.
  • Taft Ave.
  • McArthur Bridge
  • Rizal Ave.
  • Bonifacio Monument Caloocan
  • EDSA
  • North Ave.
  • Agham Road
  • Quezon Ave.
  • Quezon Circle
  • Commonwealth Ave.
  • Commission on Human Rights

A short program will happen at the end of the route in the Commission of Human Rights at 9:00 a.m., featuring artists and advocates who will share messages of solidarity on continuing the struggle Bonifacio and other Philippine heroes have started. Taking the floor are Bikers United Movement, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) College of Communication Student Council, UP Philippine General Hospital, Youth Strike 4 Climate Philippines, and We The Future PH.

An online program will also be broadcasted on We The Future PH’s Facebook page to give live updates about the event and discuss the heroism of Bonifacio and how it has manifested through the youth at the present. Joining the program are PUP DZMC Young Communicators’ Guild as hosts, as well as historian and professor Xiao Chua and We The Future PH co-convenor Wynona Galvez as guests.

Join us as we invoke the Bonifacio spirit, reclaim our civic spaces, and fight for our freedom and democracy!
