CESpotlight 2016: The OMbra is the world’s first smart bra

OMsignal, a San Francisco-based company, is hoping that women will be more inclined to use smart wearable devices if it was in a form they’re already wearing every day. The OMbra, which the company introduced at CES 2016, is the world’s first smart bra and aims to give women real-time biometric data without having to worry about wearing an extra gadget every day.

The OMbra is able to record and measure heart rate, breathing, calorie burn, stamina, and more. And aside from real-time biometrics, the OMbra is said to also provide innovative fitness features that help women get the most out of their workouts.

The OMbra is able to obtain data via thin, flexible sensors that are discreetly integrated into the bra. The data is then stored in a small and light Smart Box that’s sturdy and splash-proof before being transmitted to a paired smartphone. Discreetly located in the band of the bra, the Smart Box is capable of storing around 10 workouts before needing to be recharged so you won’t need to have your smartphone with you when you work out.

OMsignal has also taken into consideration proper bra design in the creation of the OMbra. Developed in collaboration by bra designers, scientists, and smart textile engineers, the OMbra features a design that takes into consideration the changes a woman’s body makes on a regular basis and adjusts to the changes accordingly. It’s constructed with high-performance, stretchable fabric that not only absorbs pressure and reduces stress on the back and shoulders but also promotes healthy posture. It also features adjustable bands and straps as well as padded, removable cups for maximum comfort and fit. Lastly, the OMbra will be available in several designs to appeal to any woman’s taste.

The OMbra will be available sometime in the spring of 2016 in limited quantities for around US$150 (about P7,000). OMsignal is already accepting pre-orders on their website.
