CESplotlight 2016: Alcatel OneTouch takes on Windows 10

From their first Windows 10 Mobile tablet, to new Android devices, to a new GPS tracker for kids, Alcatel OneTouch sure has its hands full at CES 2016.

PIXI 3
The PIXI 3 is the company’s first foray into the Windows 10 Mobile space. This entry-level 8-inch tablet will include a TV remote control feature, voice-call capabilities, front and rear cameras, as well as GPS support. It’ll be powered by a Qualcomm chipset to allow for 4G connectivity. And it’ll come with customization options such as Color Skins and Flip Stand covers.

CareTime Children’s Watch
Looking out for parents and their young ones, Alcatel OneTouch also introduces the CareTime 2G-connected Kids’ watch. It allows parents to call or send voice messages to their kids and have kids reply to up to 10 pre-set contacts or make calls to five registered numbers. The watch comes with a GPS locator so you can keep track of your kids’ location and you’ll be alerted if your children leave or enter pre-set safe zones. It’s designed specifically for kids ages five to nine. Its companion smartphone app works with iOS7 or above and Android 4.3 or above. The watch itself is rated IP65 so even if your kids get a bit rough, it’s protected against dust and low-pressure water jets. Standby time ofits battery lasts for up to four days.

PIXI 4 series
Expanding its Android offerings, Alcatel OneTouch has four new PIXI 4 devices: 3.5-inch and 4-inch smartphones, 6-inch phablet, and 7-inch tablet. The company touts these as being able to offer consumers “the best design and features in the entry-level market.” There aren’t that many details yet about the phones. We’ll try and keep you posted.
